What great fun!!! Informative guide that really taught us the history of the mine. Yummy outdoor cafe. Kids really enjoyed the gold panning!

From the early morning smells of a chuckwagon style breakfast buffet under an open air tent the smells intermingle with the esquisite smells of the San Juan mountains. The smells remind you of a time when nature was queen and man her servant.After a fantastic breakfast be sure and take the tour deep inside the old mine shaft a thrill for kids of all ages. This tour all be it a little cool (average temp around 58 degrees) will light up everyones eyes as you hear the stories of minings past history. The tour guides are friendly, insiteful and entertaining...Then be sure and take a gold panning lesson for a small fee. With this lesson the whole family can learn the old fashioned way of creek panning for gold. The instructors make sure everyone is well equipped for this adventure and there knowledge of questions and answers for a 7 year old was astounding at the least.Make this a trip to the San Juan Mountains a true family vacation at this experience

The mine tour is excellent. The guides were great. After the tour we panned for gold with an instructors help then had a great all you can eat breakfast.
