“Simple & Basic lodge”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2014

The room is clean, mattress not very comfortable, no soap in the bathroom, no shampoo or hair dryer. The lodge is the just under a mile from town, the 1st street pub has great food. The views are wonderful.
One concern- the front door does not have a dead bolt or chain, the back door has dead bolt, back window has sheer curtains.

Ed at the front desk was very nice and helpful.

We needed someplace to stay in Nederland at the last minute and decided on the Sundance. I've driven by there for years and have eaten in the attached restaurant but never stayed over. All twelve units have outstanding west facing views. The rooms are old, clean, and have appropriate mountain decor inside. Our room had old snowshoes, skis, on the wall, etc...

It snowed that night, which was an added bonus... We woke up to fresh snow and a bright sunny Colorado morning looking across at the Lake Eldora ski area. Check it out if you find yourself in the area..

This is a great place to stay. The views are awesome. We have stayed at the Sundance for years, until Travis came along. I refused to stay there for the last 2 and a half years while it was under Travis. He is now gone along with all of the problems. In August, Cindy and her daughter were doing a wonderful job of getting the lodge back to a place I would love to go back to. The rooms are clean again.

For the price, we could have stayed at La Quinta in Denver, or here, and sit outside and witness a gorgeous sunset over the mountains. The room was. "Rustic" and half the price of a tourist trap in Estes Park. Totally worth it.

This is a cute little mountain town motel, old rooms, old decor. Not to bad, nothing too horrible, it is attached to a little restaurant with good food, good drinks, and a very kind staff...BUT the guy who owns/runs the hotel is a freek. I mean superfreek, he is crazy as it gets,if he is acting he gets the academy award. He isnt scary psycho crazy, he is like the snozzberrys taste like snozzberrys crazy.

Room Tip: they are all the same I am sure.

the view from the room was incrdeible. pay for the view. i was there for frozen dead guy festival and it was 2 miles right down the mountain from downtown nederland. no cab service. although all the rooms were full that day, i stayed in room #10, i could not hear my neighbors. that's a good thing. my room was never cleaned during my stay. but i found it was nice and clean room when i first went into it. i stayed 3 nights. it was about the right amount of time.
travis was a nice enough guy. he had a guy, from florida, cleaning the rooms. he was nice also.
think they are understaffed there.

Room Tip: great view of mountains

not a lodge, but a motel......
plus: awesome view, heat, hot water, soaps and clean towels, ok bed, wifi, t.v.
negative: overpriced, unprofessional manager, sometimes lucid sometimes in another galaxy. dingy unwashed blanket and toss pillow, room was never made up or cleaned for 3 nights
compromise; stay one night if you must!
the sundance cafe is a separate business and has WONDERFUL food and service.
