I had low expectations due to many of the reviews here, but we had a fabulous time. At check-in we were sooo warmly greeted & informed by Joyce, a true delight.
We had a six nights stay in a cliffside room. True, it's motel strip style & shabby on the outside, but we just parked there, & didn't dwell on that. We had a most spacious room, with high wood ceilings-- immaculately clean, very nice amenities, good coffee, an abundance of towels. kudos to the cheerful, helpful housekeeping staff. The 2 queen beds were sooo plush & comfy, great down pillowtop mattress, plenty of fluffy pillows. I moved the 2 pc. chaise onto the patio, where I saw a pretty fearless deer a couple of times, as well as beautiful sunsets & night skies. We were very lucky with the weather, as we had no problem with either the room nor the running water getting too hot. Every morning at sunrise I saw a couple of deer nearby-- between the convention ctr bldg. <the only eyesore of my view> & the cliffside rooms. Also-- it 's a shared patio, but that posed no problem.
The only time I spent in the poolhouse was to get a towel & a drink of cold water provided there. I was soo pleasantly surprised that neither of the 2 lower pools was too hot to go in... they were fantastic. Sure, at times there were quite a number of people in the cooler of the 2, but I had more than enough room to really enjoy myself. The hotter <104 degree> pool was just fine too & closer to the good music, There were some tiny twigs or pIne tree needles in the pool, but I don't consider that 'dirty'. It was really nice by Chalk Creek for lounging & taking fotos. Because my husband didn't go in there with me, I didn't enter the creek-- just a little wary because of my double knee replacements that it might have been too slippery on the rocks. Enough people seemed to be enjoying it tho'. Didn't go in the steam room either, only because I didn't wanna 'schvitz'.
Just a note here: we had to drive to the main lodge to get internet, but again, this wasn't all that bad as it kept me from being on the computer all day. We had to drive to the lower pools as well, but that gave us more privacy up where our room was. We drove down a couple of times to enjoy 'happy hour'-- very nice [female] bartenders, & we were pleasantly SHOCKED that our on tap beers were only $2.50 each!
The upper pools were so surprisingly beautiful & spacious. Again, I had plenty of room to swim and just lounge around in the water. Fabulous view surrounding it! I really liked the snake-like shape of waterway that connected the 2 large pools. Impressive looking waterslide that looked so nice/fun winding down the hill. My only problem there was: because the pools are also accessible for day passes to non-resort guests, they had run out of towels & also said the dryer was broken. I truly shivered badly from the cool breeze for a few minutes 'til the sun dried me off .
Would I go back to Mt. Princeton Hot Springs Resort?? ..in a heartbeat!
