“Wonderful ranch, great location, staff and food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2013

Our first trip with young kids 6 and 2 and we loved it! The cabins are NOT fancy, very basic, but they are all equipped with what you need and well spaced so you have privacy and can enjoy the views. The staff was EXCELLENT! The meals were made from scratch, whole real food and delicious! You get a chance to meet the other guests during meals. Beautiful location, amazing views, great hiking. The activities they offer for kids and adults are fun. Fantastic horseback riding. It has been one of our favorite vacations. It is simple and quiet and rustic. We are going back!

Great ranch for a family vacation in a Christian environment.
Wonderful staff.
Great to meeting and get to know the summer student staff.
This visit was my 3rd visit, but we would like to come back every year if we had the time.

Room Tip: Lodge rooms are convenient, but I prefer the cabins.

Deer Valley is a great way for families with kids to spend a week. There are plenty of activities for both kids and teens so mom and dad can be off on their own. Riding, hiking, or just reading a book. Food is plentiful and above average--something available even for picky eaters. The staff is primarily college students. You'll want to bring one of these great kids back home with you. Cell phone coverage poor especially for verizon customers and wi-fi is limited. But that is a plus unless you need to work while on vacation

We are so glad you enjoyed your week at Deer Valley including the food, fun and relaxation in our beautiful mountain setting. Because of our location in the mountains, our cell phone and WiFi capabilities are more limited than many guests are accustomed to. We are constantly pursuing options for our guests and each year we see technological improvements for our area. Thank you for your feedback and we hope to see you Back at the Ranch in the future!

This is our third summer at Deer Valley. We keep coming back because it's great. The staff are wonderful, the valley is beautiful, the food is excellent, the activities are excellent. You can be active or just relax. Also the camp is small enough you can get to know people more easily. WiFi is available but limited, This is a good place to unplug from the constant barrage from electronic media. We didn't miss it.

Many families have been coming to this camp for generations. There aren't many places where that is true. We just put in a deposit to hold a cabin for #4 summer vacation in 2014.

Room Tip: St Elmo is a really nice cabin.

At the end of our second day at Deer Valley our 7-year-old boy said, "This is the best day of my life." And he wasn't the only one who felt that way -- all five of us (my husband, three boys ages 12, 9 and 7, and I) all agreed with him. We have traveled to many places but the week we spent at Deer Valley Ranch was the best vacation we have ever had! We actually cried while leaving because we didn't want to leave the wonderful location, the fabulous food and the amazing Christian staff.

Where else can you ride horses (all of us were beginner riders), feed chipmunks by hand, pan for gold, fish, sled ride (yes, in SNOW on the Continental Divide), eat like kings, meet wonderful people from all over the country, get waited on hand-and-foot, be entertained with wholesome family skits, go rock climbing, go whitewater rafting, relax in the sun with no humidity, swim, and all the while know that your children are in a safe environment and they are having as much fun (or more!) than you are.

I cannot recommend Deer Valley Ranch more highly; we have already started saving for next years' trip.

This was our third stay at Deer Valley Ranch. We've always been impressed by the staff's hard work and service to our family. We rode horses every day and had some terrific rides to some old, and some new destinations. The Brown's Falls ride was very nice, and brought back some great memories. It was too cold for a High Country ride this year, so, John W took us on a Back Country ride by Castle Rock. It was spectacular! The terrain is so much different from the Chalk Cliffs. It was a really fun ride. We spotted a Mountain Goat high above the ranch on the Chalk Cliffs. We fed the Chipmunks in St. Elmo. We tried to hike the Alpine Tunnel Trail from Hancock, but it was too wet due to the snow melt. The food is always great at DVR. The Wranglers are every young lady's dream! They are so good at what they do! The Christian staff at DVR make this a delightful week, where one can truly relax and have a great time. We'll be back!!!

Room Tip: We're from Florida. The high altitude affects us. All of the cabins are above or below the main...

Our family went for 3 nights just to get a feel for a dude ranch. The owners and summer staff were absolutely fantastic, the food was wonderful, and the activities offered were numerous and flexible. It is true that there isn't any good wifi, tv, cell service, but let's not forget that we need to keep verbal communication in style and families close.

Room Tip: If you want a lodge room, book early (at least a year) but the cabins are fantastic if you can stand...
