I dont' know where to start, our experience here was SO horrible I called their corporate offices twice to complain on two separate issues. We had booked a "one bdr Suite" for our stay. On arrival we get to our room and it is so small that there is not even enough room for the three of us to sleep in it. the "Suite" consisted of a double size bed and that was all. I called to let them know they must have given us the wrong room as this was definitely not a suite and was given the response that it had a microwave and mini fridge in it, thus it is a suite. I responded that all motels have a microwave and mini fridge now and the microwave looked like it was from the 70's! They then said they would not change our room even to a standard room and there was nothing they could do about it. She said they had no other rooms available but on check in they asked what floor we wanted and if we wanted smoking or non smoking, this seemed a contradiction in terms. I was very upset as we were excited to pay more for what we expected to be a larger Suite instead of a standard room which we rarely splurge for. They also told us that if you book through travelocity or any other third party site that they have no control over helping you, basically telling us "you get what you pay for" even though what we paid was identical to their advertised rates. I have posted a picture of our "one bdr suite" along with this review.
Next they send up a folding portable bed which we couldn't fold down because the room was too small in demension for it to even fit so i don't know what they were thinking. My husband ended up sleeping on his parent's couch and leaving my daughter and I there alone which really put a huge damper on our Memorial Day vacation.
The second issue had to do with breakfast. At check in the woman at the front desk (who didn't really seem to care if people were happy or not) told us that breakfast the following day went until 10:30 because it was Memorial Day. I looked at the breakfast room and it did have a sign that said it would be served until 10:30 am on holidays. Therefore we slept in a bit and woke around 9:30 and went down for breakfast. I saw the breakfast room was closed and a few families were sitting down there with hungry looking kids. I asked them if the breakfast was being served and they replied "no, we were told it would be until 10:30 but they closed it at 9:30". I asked this same person behind the front desk why it wasn't open and she said it closes at 9:30, i responded that she told us, as well as the other families, that it closed at 10:30 so we planned accordingly. she pretty much just snubbed me and said "no it closed at 9:30" as if all of us had misunderstood her, this is the second time this person had been less than truthful to not only us but the other guests.
By this point I was so livid with this hotel that I vowed not only to not stay at that Holiday Inn Express but to never stay at any Holiday Inn again. We travel quite often and will now change our preferred hotel chain to another. I never write negative reviews or get sufficiently angry enough to actually do it but in this case I felt compelled to warn travellers of what they may encounter at this hotel.
If you book a "suite" don't expect what you might consider a suite to be. For them a s...
