We stayed here due to the awesome reviews on TripAdvisor and I must say that after staying here I hesitated between giving the Days Inn Montrose a 3 or 4 star Rating. I will admit that we are not typical Days inn customers, after having a bad experience in the past we usually stay away however the reviews here were too good to pass up.
On one hand you have a great staff worthy of a 4 star rating, a good breakfast, and a clean room and on the other hand you have an older motel, older rooms, paper thin walls and quick patch jobs.
The motel is a typical basic days inn, no frills and that's OK. We had a room on the lower floor near the office, the room has an older look with a typical motel smell. The decor was kinda surprising and clean and so were the beds. The washrooms were very small, dated and basic However we loved the Rubber Duck. One pet peeve that I have and that this place suffered from was paint patches. The walls had been patched several times and the paint patches were visible. I know this is silly but I figure you should just repaint the whole wall instead of having 5 or 6 different color patches on them. We also had a problem with some of our furniture being damaged however the front desk was advised and they didn't give us any problems. The walls here are paper thin, we could here everything next to us and above us however people quickly went to bed and we were able to sleep without any frustration. Having bad neighbors could of made this really horrible.
The parking lot is small and tight. There is a good restaurant next door, it's open late so it was useful for us. Beware of Karaoke night. The breakfast at the hotel is adequate however the room is small and the tables fill up fast. Better get here early.
On the good side the place was clean and the staff was always friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good, the check in was quick and the gentlemen was professional the check out was fast too. I'd stay here again however I don't think the current reviews really depict the place properly.
