We were on a trip through Colorado. We did not make prior reservations because we were not sure where we would be on a particular day. We stopped by when a large group of motorcycle people was getting rooms. We went to another motel nearby which was full. They recommended the Days Inn, so were returned while a couple was getting their rooms. I asked if they had any rooms left, and they had one or two left. I wanted a non-smoking room which they didn't have. The couple had booked the last two non-smoking rooms. The gentleman wanted a smoking room, but his wife wanted a non-smoking. He offered to let me have his non-smoking room for the smoking room. I agreed.
Because it was late in the day and the motels were full, we had to accept the room which cost more than it was worth even with my WyndhamRewards. There was a pool and a outdoor hot tub, which we didn't care about. Maybe the pool and the fact that the motels were full contributed to the higher cost.
The clerk asked if was a member of AARP to which I no longer belong because of their political views. I told her that I was a senior over 70 and was a member of the Association of Mature American Citizens (AMAC). It is my understanding that Days Inn and Wyndham Rewards both accept AMAC, but I was not given their rate. When I returned home, I checked the rates on the Days Inn website, and confirmed that I was not given the discount.
The room was on the first floor in a separate building which was good. However, the room was very small for the king size bed and the small bathroom could have been better cleaned and needed some touch up around the tub. It did have a refrigerator in which I needed to store some medicine, and there were more pillows than normal. I think there were 5. It was quiet so we could sleep. The rubber ducky was cute. The wireless internet worked fine. The breakfast area is adequate but was crowded and noisy. The breakfast was good with hard boiled eggs, waffles, cereal, fruit, juice, coffee, etc.
The shelf under the mirror and over the sink was loose and when we put a cup of coffee on it in the morning, it slid off and spilled all over. I reported it at breakfast.
The best things I remember about this motel were the people staying there. We met a very nice couple from Colorado at breakfast with whom we shared a table, and I already mentioned the room swap.

Thank you for your review. I am sorry for the rate being high for you it was the second busiest weekend of the yr with the sweet corn festival in town. I am not sure if you received a amac or a AARP discount but I would honor that discount just e-mail me your name and or room number to make that right. I am sorry for the confusion about the online rate you saw because we were blocked out online because of the festival. Thank you for the maintenance problems report so we can address those issues as well. I hope that in the future you would come back and stay with us despite the rate issue and hope you would give me an opportunity to fix that for you. Again thanks for the review
