We enjoyed our one night here. Elevator to third floor room, away from road so we could open our window and enjoy the lovely Colorado air! Very quiet and peaceful. Good hot breakfast. Front desk staff was helpful with restaurant suggestions. Would definitely stay here again!

I am a Priority Club member and I live in hotels well over 100 nights a year. This hotel is in dire need of a facelift. The positives were the front desk management. The hotel is owned by a very nice family and their son also acts as their internet guy. When I visited, the wireless was unable to provide internet service. The son's solution was to try to sign on using Google. I told him it was pointless, but he kept trying. He was a fine young man, but clearly had no clue what was causing the problem. That said, his family were friendly and very attentive. Now the negatives. The bedding was old an dated. The mattress in my room was horrible, obviously in need of replacement. The TV was an old 24" model, no wide screen. The carpeting in the hallways was vacuumed, but in real need of a good shampooing. The breakfast was poor, with bland cereals and something resembling an omelet. The selection for breakfast was limited, even by Choice Hotel standards. I've stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Montrose as well and would recommend it over this property.

We stayed at this hotel for 5 days and 4 nights while visiting family in Montrose. The advantages we saw were that it is centrally located, allows pets ( for an extra fee of course), has a pool, and offered a continental breakfast.
Pluses-
The rooms, overall, were pretty clean but with all hotels, the cleanliness of the floors were in question.
Items of Concern-
We realized the door lock to our room was malfunctioning and would not lock. The added dead-bolt couldn't be used at night as when the handle was turned on the outside to open the door, the dead-bolt would unlock as well. The only security we had at night was the slider lock. This remained unfixed even after two discussions with the Manager, it remained the same. Obviously we had no security during the day to protect our personal items.
The quality of the continental breakfast is something to be desired. There are few options to choose from compared to other hotels we have stayed at. No jelly for your toast, no oatmeal, cold cereal is limited to two types (both of which are not kid-friendly). Only options for hot breakfast are waffles, scrambled eggs, and chopped bacon.
Internet is next to impossible if you use an iPad or iPhone (both of which my wife and I have). However, if you are using a notebook computer you will be fine.
The grounds around the hotel are not kept very well, as there are weeds everywhere, a bundle of trash was left outside the entire time we were there, and there were ladders, shovels, boots, hoses, etc left out in the front of the hotel.
The hot tub was actually look warm rather than hot.
The outside entrance doors are not locked at night even though they appear to require your key card to enter.
Overall-
When you consider: how much time you spend in your room, the fact they allow pets, they are reasonably priced, and their location, this is an adequate hotel but not something to brag about. However, there are other hotels available where you would be much happier with that offer similar amenities.

I stopped into this hotel to wait for a shuttle bus, and although I was not a guest, the owner had his son take me to where Iwas staying. Amazing service! Thanks, Marc F.
