“friendly, welcoming, busy, yummy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2012

Our family was in Monte Vista for a burial. None of us had lived in Monte for decades, but an old high school friend of my aunt recommended Ninos. On a very busy Friday night, they welcomed these now-strangers like family members. They seated our party of 10-12 at one big table, and brought drinks and chips right away. The servers were very friendly and never got flustered in all the busy-ness. The food wasn't "spectacular" as another reviewer wrote, but it was perfect down-home Mexican-American food. Not flashy, just homey, flavorful, and perfect. You can get everything hot, medium or mild, and the "hot" is really hot (and remember, the kitchen can't control the heat of the chiles used in chiles rellenos). The "medium" sauce had a good kick but wasn't super-hot, and had wonderful green-chile and pork flavor. The margaritas come in the kind of giant frosted mugs you'd expect for root beer - almost personal pitchers. This place was hopping on a Friday night. I think everyone in Monte Vista and several folks from surrounding towns was there. Really a nice family place.

“Nothing Spectacular”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2012

This is simply an average Mexican Restaurant for Colorado. The service was relatively good and staff were friendly. If revisiting Monte Vista, I would probably be more adventurous and try somewhere I have not been before.

I loved the food here it is very good. i would reccomend it to anyone that likes mexican food. Even if you dont, it is still the best resturant next to the japineese resturant. They had very good service. :-)

“Authentic Hot Green Chile and a twist on Salsa”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 5, 2006

Ninos is a good sized local Mexican restaurant on Adams Street in the old part of Monte Vista. They have three grades of green chile -- I ordered the medium and it wasn't hot enough for me. My partner ordered hot and it was just right. All the food was delicious and the portions generous. The salsa is a destination in itself: almost tasting like a sweet italian marinara with a concentration of oregano and/or basil, yet it was spicey with peppers. All their food is affordable. Check it out!
