My husband and I decided on a last minute holiday get away and Blue Skies delivered once again for us. It was the off season, so we weren't able to enjoy the lush gardens of the spring and summer, but you could tell it would be lovely once in bloom. We did enjoy a family of deer right outside our window each morning which was fun. We love the artistic and individually themed rooms that are very spacious. The large bathrooms are beautifully tiled and the double headed shower was a nice addition. We stayed both times in Indian Paint II and enjoyed the access to a VERY large complimentary DVD selections - with more than enough for all interests.
I do agree that the pillows aren't the most cushy and the bed was a queen (but I like to be able to touch my partner vs. wondering if he's still in bed on the other side of a king), but I was able to make due with one of the throw pillows which were softer. Breakfast is brought to your door in a basket, which unlike some other reviewers, we totally appreciated! I'm not a fan of awkward breakfast talk with strangers first thing in the morning and a specific allotted time you must arrive to eat. Here you could eat when you wanted after it was delivered (8:30) as all the rooms have small fridges and microwaves if needed. Plus, in warmer weather there are ample sitting areas outside to enjoy your breakfast if you wish amongst the flowers and greenery. Though the staple tends to be an egg casserole, a variety of muffins and fruit - they are very tasty and enough for 4 people (we ended up skipping lunch every day because we ate so much at breakfast!). Oh, we did get pancakes our 3rd morning instead of muffins. =)
It is located within an easy 10 minute walk to the main drag of Manitou Springs by a dirt path which follows Fountain Creek for the most part (there's a paved sidewalk roadside too). Last of all, it has a 24 hr hot tub which was definitely a plus when temps dropped to near freezing after the sun set during our visit. We'll be back at some point and plan to tell our friends to visit too!
