“Great Get Away”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2014

My husband and I stayed one night at the Historic Onaledge Bed and Breakfast in Manitou Springs, CO in March. Even though we live only about 25 minutes away, it was a wonderful get away from where we live. The Onaledge is in a quiet and peaceful area. A few minutes away you can walk around the shopping area or visit the near-by Miramont Castle, there are places to eat, etc.. The Onaledge was built in 1912 in the craftsmen style by the original owner. Inside are still touches of copper that he added to the house. The house is very charming and well kept. You are free to explore all the rooms in the house and enjoy a 10 person hot tub. The staff are all very friendly and Brett, the innkeeper is most gracious and willing to tell stories about the B&B. The next morning we enjoyed a very good breakfast next door at the Rockledge B&B. We had a great time. I would recommend staying at the Onaledge any time. Great place!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Fireplace room which really is a suite. We enjoyed a cozy fire in the evening. We...

We recently stayed here and had a great time. The wife was skeptical when we entered our room because it didn't have A/C, but I assured her that the Colorado nights would cool it off. Boy did it. By morning we were both grabbing for the blanket. The rooms are immaculately decorated, but with touches of the modern. We did have a nice flatscreen that I could watch Manchester United's first game of the season. The property is conveniently located and the road that all 3 properties are on parallel Manitou Ave which is really nice. Breakfast in the mornings on the veranda are a must as you have a superb view of Pikes Peak. I would certainly stay here again.

Room Tip: Keep in mind that the Rockledge Suite does not have air condition. It can get stuffy during the day...

We thank you for you very kind words and input on the air conditioning situation for the Rockledge Room. The room is air conditioned but we have taken your words and worked on the venting as this room is on the central system. Again, thank you for the complimentary review of Onaledge at Red Crags Estates.

We stayed here on Memorial Day weekend. There are three properties all within walking distance of each other owned by one person. He seemed understaffed or overcommitted or maybe a bit of both.

When we arrived, we had to wait for someone to come to the office. There was no way to let them know we were here. Also, another time when I went to ask for something, I again, waited and waited.

The room was o.k. - we stayed in the Carriage House. It wasn't oriented the way the photo on the website and the way they changed it made for a tight squeeze to get around the end of the bed, especially when one wakes in the middle of the night to use the bathroom and knocks their shoulder into the TV hanging on the wall.

Also, if you are over 5'3" you probably won't like the shower. I'm 5'3" and my eyes were level with the shower head so I had to bend down a bit to get my hair wet. My husband who is 5'9" had the water hit him on the chest. It also has a low ceiling in the shower so much taller and you'd hit your head on the ceiling.

One of the draws to staying here was a private entrance with a pretty little sitting area outside. It was not inviting at all. The chairs and fake plants were covered in dust. I finally had to ask that it be swept.

The parking was extremely tight and at one point instead of continuing to see-saw to get out of the area, we just backed into the grass.

Breakfasts were good and the views from the main property were nice.

There are other places in Manitou Springs that we've stayed and when we go back, we would probably choose one of these over Onaledge.

Your review is very true in regards to staffing. We were one month removed from losing two valuable staff members and I was in the midst of training new staff. As such, items were missed and I humbly apologize. We have "reloaded" with professional staff and would love to have you return as you will undoubtedly see and feel the difference. And yes, the economical Carriage House room is a bit challenging for taller individuals, which is brought up in reservation conversations. Again, we would love to have a return visit for reassure you and others that our efforts are to correct issues described. Always!

Stayed at Onaledge in the Carriage house for 3 of 8 nights on our Colorado vacation and wish we had spent all 8 nights there! The view are amazing, the breakfast is fantastic and the property is unreal. Brett is an excellent Innkeeper and the staff are all very helpful and friendly. I can't say enough good about this place. Will be back as often as I can!

We had an event at the Onaledge B&B, which turned out to be a great success. The staff were very courteous. The room me and my wife stayed in was clean and very comfortable. We had complete run of the house and this aided in a very successful event. I would reccomend a stay here to anybody that may ask...

Room Tip: The carriage house is a little small but comfortable and it gives you a private enterance.

Grateful for your kind words. Yes, the Carriage House at Onaledge is unique in its design...actually was the old carriage house. Rock walls and narrow but long. This room offers extreme privacy with the direct entrance from the parking area. And the private access to the back deck for hot tub enjoyment offers guests the opportunity to go directly to the tub without proceeding through the house.

My daughter and I needed a get away. Somewhere that we would feel spoiled. Somewhere beautiful and comfortable. We found that in the Bed and Breakfast at Historic Onaledge. We stayed in the Red Crags Room and were completely comfortable. The room was spacious and beautiful. The bathroom was clean and had a claw foot tub. We took turn taking baths and enjoyed polishing our nails while watching movies. The house is beautiful to explore, it really makes you feel like a curious child. Lots of cute nooks to tuck yourself away and read a book. And a suit of armour by the front door! The gardens and grounds were just gorgeous. We spent a lot of time just walking around and taking pictures! Really great place, can't wait to go back!

I made a reservation after reading the reviews on trip advisor. It is a beautiful property, clean and friendly staff. Maurine greeted us and gave us a quick tour of the main property. We were staying in the Onaledge room in a different property. It was the entire third floor of the home, with a separate bedroom for our ten yr old. It rained most of the evening, so it was cooler for the end of July. Good thing! Our room was HOT. There was a wall air conditioner for the main room, and a floor box fan for the separate bedroom. As hot as it was in the summer, I would expect it to be just as cold in the winter, although there is also a small gas stove in the room. Please be advised that while this property has amazing history and beauty, it is an old home. I gave it above average for the price, because of the amazing breakfast.

Room Tip: Be sure to ask about children. There is one of the properties that does allow kids.

Your input is very important and we have implemented a system to avoid having the room be so warm in the peak of summer. Over time, this has worked well as our guests have provided ample positive feedback to indicate the same. We thank you for your input and the kind, complimentary words!
