We stayed here 4 nights of Labor Day week. It's now called the Rodeway Inn at the Castaways.
The check-in was quick and easy. Our room was the furthest from the pool and hot tub. The little refrigerator was extremely loud. We considered going to another motel. I asked the lady in the office if we could go to another room. She said all that was left were deluxe rooms that were $45 more per night. I asked her if she'd at least swap the fridge for another. She told me they all sounded that way.
As a side - when I was in the lodging business 30 years ago we would hve worked with a disappointed customer. Either we would have comped him the 1st night then moved him the next. Or, we would have put him in the more expensive room at the same rate as the original. I guess those days are long gone.
We decided to stay anyway. That was a mistake. The bed was too soft and the pillows too small. The fridge got worse through the week. When the room above us was occupied we could hear the floor above creak when someone walked across it.
The light outside was over the picture window instead of the door. At night light poured in the top and bottom of the curtains. It was never dark in the room.
On a good note, the housekeeping was very good except the bed didn't get made one day. The room looked nice, the TV was good, and so was the hot tub. It's a nice location with a great view of Pikes Peak..
All in all...we should have left the 1st night. We'll stay somewhere else next time.
