“Stadium Steps on Steroids!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2013

This is an ambitious hike. If you just arrived from lower elevations, you might want to wait a day or two to acclimate. Just about anybody can make it to the top if you have plenty of time. Don't take your dog! Do take plenty to drink. Don't come back down by the steps, take the social trail to Barr Trail. Any of the locals that you meet at the top can help you find your way down to Barr Trail.

“Great Workout and Major Endorphins at the End!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2013

All I can say is, it feels good just to finish it. There are times when you are looking at the top, thinking, OH MY GOD, what was I thinking, but when you reach it, you feel so good, not only about yourself, but those endorphins kick in and you have such a boost of energy. Don't go down the incline, it is too dangerous, just follow everyone else to the bar trail. In my best shape, I could make it down in about 1/2 hour, now a bit longer... no biggie. Have fun, but be safe!

“Awesome physical challenge.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2013

Took us about 3 hours from start to finish. You will want to take the connection to the Barr trail for the way down. People that were descending the incline made it difficult and uncomfortable for both as it is awkward and slow. Ascending it is challenging enough as it is. For us being from sea level, we required lots of rest breaks, I would recommend picking a point and making that your goal before your next rest break. A must for anyone visiting the area.

“Awesome for training”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2013

I have used the incline for training for mountaineering for a long time. Strap on a pack with some weights and you will be ready for the Himalayas in no time!

Seriously, this is one of my favorite, intense workouts and if you are a serious (or adventurous) athlete it is worth doing. Since it only takes a couple of hours round trip, it is easily done in an evening if you are a visitor. Parking can be problematic and you now have to pay to park at the base of the Barr trail. There aren't many good options for free parking so expect to bring a credit card to pay for parking,

Bring some water and watch out for the afternoon thunderstorms.

“Extreme Cardio Workout!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2013

Wanted to do a workout while in Colorado and a friend suggested this climb. It's an intense stair climb that gets pretty steep in places. Hips, hamstrings, calves and glutes get major work!
Although it seems like an intimidating climb, it's a great adventure. Huge sense of accomplishment after reaching the top!
