Just returned from 2 nights at the Cliff House with a group of 6 (50 year olds) for a Ladies Weekend away. We had 3 twin rooms on the same floor. Reservations and check -in were flawless. All 6 of us were able to sit around in any of the rooms and enjoy the accomodations -- nice ice buckets, glasses, mini frig, turn down service with chocolates in the evening -- although we never made use of the heated toilet seats! Excellent accomodations and service for a very reasonable price. The valet parking was a delightful treat, rather than the hassle I expected. The valets were more than willing to fetch items from our cars. The breakfast included with the room rate was exceptional -- included scrambled eggs. We enjoyed drinks on the veranda before dinner and then had a wonderful dinner in the dining room. We all think it must be the best restaurant in Manitou Springs. I was particularly impressed with the restaurant staff service and integrity. Since we had a large group, the tip was automatically included on the check. When I signed the credit card receipt, the waiter had written "included" on the line for "tip" on the receipt. I really appreciated that gesture! The location is great for walking around town or driving off to view the Garden of the Gods or Seven Falls. It was truly a pleasure to stay at The Cliff House!
My husband and I spent a couple nights at the Cliff House for an anniversary get away. We stayed in the Prince Ferdinand suite. First, the staff was incredible. When we arrived to check in, we were told happy anniversary. I'm sure it was recorded on our information form, but it was a nice touch. The room was very large with a king bed, sitting area with love seat and chair, game table, fireplace, bathroom, and a 2-person spa tub. The walk-in closet was almost as big as the one I have at home so no problem with space. The bathroom had dual sinks and there was a separate shower with dual heads and body sprayers with plenty of hot water and pressure. Since the weather was warm, we didn't need the toilet seat warmer but it was fun to test it. I want one for my house. We had wine and chocolate-dipped strawberries waiting in our room along with a rose and note wishing us a happy anniversary. The only thing I didn't care for about the room was our view which was the street to the front of the hotel, but the room itself made up for it. In the evenings we had turn-down service with chocolates left by the bedside. There were even floor mats that had "Good Night" when facing the bed and "Good Morning" when facing away. The robes at the hotel were amazingly soft. I wish I had room in my suitcase to take one home.
We had dinner in the dining room the first night of our stay. The food was really good. The rabbit and rattlesnake quesadillas are incredible! They had just changed to a new menu and were asking for feedback. I let the waiter know that my pasta was a little bland for my palate and he brought out some lemon wedges so I could add some zest. Also, my husband is diabetic but there wasn't anything on the menu listed as being sugar free. He asked the waiter in case there was a special dessert that wasn't listed. The waiter said he would speak to the pastry chef and came back a little later with a special sugar free fruit dessert that the chef made special. That is real service!
The staff was very friendly and helpful with recommendations on things to do and places to eat. We had one minor problem with the toilet but it was fixed within 5 minutes of mentioning it to the staff.
The stay was pricey but for a special occasion, the expense is worthwhile.
my wife and i stayed here for one night on sept. 13 th. after reading the good reviews on this site,we decided to stay in the thomas edison room.First the hotel, no self parking.check in was easy even with a wedding going on.bellman had the luggage up to the room and explained how everything worked and where everything was. The first floor had a nice breakfast room with cold and some hot things as well as all the standard food you will find anyplace.the grounds and room were very clean and comfortable.
The room-- over 400 sq ft in size oval shaped bedroom with large windows .king size bed wet bar (had chocolate strawberrys) great!!!! they came with the room. large bath area with jet tub, steam shower, and bath area. this is where the room shines the most. 5th floor ,you had to take the elevator to the 4th floor and walk one set of stairs to the room.
Overall this place was a wonderful place to stay and i give it a highly recomended experience. a bit on the pricey side but not over pricey. the service was great , the food was good, the room was top rate.
My husband and I had our wedding reception at the Cliffhouse in June 2008. After a long search for the perfect wedding venue we visited the beautiful hotel on a rainy day in march one year and fell in love it! I cannot say enough about the staff at the hotel as well as the wedding coordinators. They made our day into a dream. Every detail was executed perfectly and they accommodated all of our 50 guests who stayed during the wedding. Our reception meal was fantastic and some guests said the best meal they have ever had! I feel a very deep attachment to this hotel because of their wonderful service and picturesque setting. I would reccommend the Cliffhouse to anyone looking for a relaxing and romantic escape. My husband and I have already planned a trip for our one year anniversary next year!
