If you're looking for a beautiful place for a refreshing getaway, yet not wanting to drive a long distance from the Front Range cities of Colorado, Stone Mountain Lodge is a wonderful choice. While only being 2 miles from the village of Lyons Colorado and less than a half hour from Boulder and Longmont, the Stone Mountain Lodge feels like it's a world away from the hustle and bustle of the larger cities. We spent four nights in one of the cabins, which was roomy and comfy, and equipped with most of the conveniences of home, including a full kitchen, wireless internet, and cable TV. The balance between rustic and civilized was perfect for us. The setting was wonderful, tucked into the base of a large red rock-rimmed mountain with a short hiking trail up the mountainside right on the property. The pond with its gregarious flock of of domestic ducks was a perfect spot to relax, read, or commune with nature. The grounds were beautiful in their fall foliage. A small herd of deer occasionally would wander through the property. The staff was friendly and helpful. All in all, a wonderful place for a getaway.

We stayed here 2 nights last week and it was not a good experience. The location is fantastic but the accommodations are extremely dated and the sheets were dirty. Since we checked in really late the office was closed and we were unable to get clean sheets. We went hiking the next day and when we returned the office was closed. Unfortunately we had to sleep on gross sheets for 2 nights. Oh, when we returned from hiking there was a dead bug in the bed! The curtains did not even fully close and they were halfway falling down. The toilet also did not always flush.

If we had paid $50 a night I would understand but this room was $139/night and definitely not worth it.

I understand mountain living is a little rustic but this was over the top. I would not recommend this to anyone!

We had a great time. The staff was so accommodating and awesome. We traveled with young children and they had a blast. The community of Lyons is just an cute and relaxing town. Stone Mountain Lodge is such a convenient location to Estes Park, Longmont and Boulder. The only thing with the room cleanliness, what can I say...It's located in the mountains. All the locals in Lyons were great. They just like to drive fast around the curvey mountain roads, which you get use to after a couple of days. Lyons, we've heard from the locals, is a very safe community and everybody seems to know everyhbody. We had a great time. The staff at the Stone Mountain Lodge seem like small town very very friendly people. Some days we never left the lodge we were having such a relaxing time. If you need something, they totally help you out to the best of their ability!

We booked Stone Mountain Lodge for 3 nights via the internet as the Lodge and cabin looked good and had a swimming pool. However, when we got the there we found the place to be dirty, rundown and tired. and the swimming pool out of order. The bedding wasn't clean and shoud have been replaced, dust was piled up along the skirting boards and there were ants and other insects crawling all over the floor. There was a shortage of cups and glasses and what where there were dirty. When my wife and i went to bed we found a centipede about 3" long in our bed!
The next morning we went to the reception and told them we were not happy with the standard of the cabin when considering we were pay $230/night. On a positive note there was no arguing from the guy on reception and a refund was given immediately for the outstanding nights.
In our opinion Stone Mountain Lodge requires a good overall if they are to conitnue charging the those prices. We unserstand the cabin is backed up against a mountain and so insects will be around but that doesn't account for the poor standard of cleaning.
