A few years back, I happened across Wild Lane's website when looking for local B&Bs. I loved all that I found about it and am so glad we chose it. There doesn't seem to be any negatives about the place! Even though there is a resident cat, my husband (who's allergic) wasn't bothered by its presence, which gave me comfort of its cleanliness.
The location is perfect. It's close enough to I-25 to make traveling to it a breeze, and it's close enough to the mountains to have instant access. But the way it's tucked up onto the hill beside Devil's Backbone makes it feel amazingly remote.
They keep the grounds beautifully. They have struck the perfect balance between wild and manicured. It feels so comfortable outside, like you could sit in the garden for days and not once notice the time. We first visited in March, when most of the vegetation was dormant and it was STILL bountiful and beautiful.
I love the Victorian (?) feel of the place, like you've stepped back in time and are enjoying the luxuries of the day: Two sitting rooms, a library and a sunroom- and each with its own lovely fireplace! Wonderful!!
We first stayed in the Pink Rose Room and loved it. It does have the smallest bathroom of all the rooms, though. But it's a private bathroom, which is all that mattered to us! Then we stayed in the Wild Rose Room. For the least expensive room, it was a steal!
Then there's the breakfast...! There aren't enough words to express how delicious it was. This alone was enough to visit!
In fact, any one of the items listed above is a reason worth staying here, and to find them all in one place...for a reasonable price? Phenomenal!
