We stayed here onr night while visiting Boulder. The exterior of the hotel looks nice and new, the room was quite large as well as the bathroom. Unfortunately, the large metal doors on the rooms are very loud and slam every time someone enters or exits. Secret service was staying here during the Democratic National Convention in Denver and left the hotel at 4:30 a.m. We heard every word they said outside in the hallway as well as all of their doors slamming.

The bathroom wasn't the cleanest and there were cobwebs on the acoustic ceiling. The blanket or mattress cover under the fitted sheet had a roughness to it that could be felt through the fitted sheet - very uncomfortable. The towels were thin and rough as well.

The continental breakfast was a joke. They would have been better off to not have anything than to try to get by serving this. The orange juice tasted like powder and there wasn't even water available to drink. There was white bread toast, but no butter or margarine - just an artificial vegetable spread. Of the 3 cereal containers put out, two were raisin bran and the other bran flakes, neither of which my son would eat (how about staples like Cheerios or Rice Krispies like other hotels offer?). No fresh fruit either. We wound up buying breakfast outside the hotel.

This was the most disappointing hotel stay of our 8-night vacation in Colorado. In fact, this was the only disappointing stay. It also was the most expensive. We cannot recommend this hotel and will not be returning in the future.

“Great place with even greater staff!”

La Quinta Inn and Suites Louisville/Boulder

Jun 16, 2008

Everything was great and more that met our expectations. The room was clean and spacious. The kids loved the well-maintained pool. The breakfast was great. the staff was very helpful and went out of their way to help us. I got this room on Priceline and couldn't have been happier.

The property can be seen from US36 (a freeway) and looks fairly boxy and undistinguished from that vantage. But when you drive in, it has a touch of the mock-Spanish-American architecture of LaQuinta, which I find kind of nice even if it's phony, and the lobby is VERY handsome and bright and well-appointed for a motel lobby (it doubles as the breakfast area). And there's quite a pleasant little courtyard with a small swimming pool (closed for the season when we were there in April). Most impressive aside from the price -- about $65 off-season -- was the room, which was much more spacious than most motel rooms. It was also nicely decorated with three inoffensive pictures on the wall, a largeish useful desk, a clothes closet, and a good-sized bathroom. The property is only about eight or ten years old and is very solid and well-built and has been kept in extremely good condition. The room was perfectly clean and didn't smell bad. The $65 included free internet (through an ethernet cable, supplied, not wireless) -- a little slower than I'm used to, 10mBs, but it could be worse. There's also a free breakfast. So if you figure that some places charge $10 for internet and don't give you breakfast (like the Day's Inn in Boulder), this is really quite a good deal. There's a good shopping center in Louisville & a good movie theater near the motel, but most folks are probably more interested in Boulder (10 minutes away) or the mountains, which probably accounts for the low price here. The one problem we had was with breakfast. They were supposed to have LaQuinta's signature fresh-baked self-serve waffles, and even some egg omelettes, but the person (or people) looking after breakfast was (or were) VERY inefficient and we waited 20 minutes for the waffle batter and eggs to be brought out, and even with three reminders to the staff nothing happened, and we finally gave up on the whole thing, and a team of young athletes was staying there and THEY came in for breakfast and THEY gave up too, and there were others who were unhappy. The breakfast table was also supposed to have a bowl of yoghurts, but those were gone too. When we complained to the front desk we got an unpersuasive and defensive excuse. ("Oh, we didn't expect so many people." Well, check your room registration list.) BUT, (1) if they hadn't had any breakfast at all this still would have been a great place at a great price, AND (2) after we complained they actually refunded us the entire amount of one of our two nights' stay, which made me feel a little guilty, but, wow, they're holding themselves to high standards. So, all in all, I don't think you could do better.

It was clean, comfortable and spacious but that's all. No facilities, but cheap for a single night stay.

I must be from a different planet but the room we stayed in was the worst that a hotel can offer. We had stained carpet, a bathtub that would not drain and the bed was the worst. It was basically a box spring with a small pad so that the metal jabbed into your back.. The bed sagging to one side and sway backed in the middle. It was no thicker then about 6 inches.

The toilets flushed very loudly and you could hear everything going on above you, next to you and in the hall. The airconditioning was very loud, like the kind that you see in dives for alot less money. If you book a room here, ask for whereever the other reviewer stayed, it must be somewhere else in the building
