“Back on track!?”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2012

Merles had been one of our go to LiDo (Littleton downtown) dining spots when they first opened, good food, nice beers, friendly folks, reasonable prices. Then when hot competition opened right across the street (The Tavern), Merles decided they needed to cut corners and save pennies. No more roasting of tomatoes for the wedge salad, seeming just to pass the truffle oil over the fries without actually putting any of the good stuff on spud sticks. Was too bad cuz they are an independent cool spot in Lido, the big garage doors open in nice weather, sweet little rooftop patio. Now they’ve got some new menu times again and food and service seem to be back on track. Nice truflly fries again – yeah! Burgers good as they’d been. One slightly off target menu choice was the roasted root veg salad: nice chunks of various beets, parsnips, etc, but were all of varying texture and offhandly scattered throughout the bed of tart greens – the salad needed something to pull it together and the slice of pistachio toast was not that element. Do try to hit Merle’s happy hour - always a bargain with some good eats and drink prices to match.

“Merle's Family Owned in Downtown Littleton”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2012

My sister and I went here for dinner on a Friday night. Call ahead if you don't want to wait an hour for seating! The hostess was a little rude when we first got there.

The restaurant was very loud and it was hard to hear conversation. Our server was very nice however and polite.

The food was okay. I had a hamburger with mushrooms and swiss cheese. We also had the garlic fries as an appetizer and the house margarita.

All in all, the atmosphere was quaint and the food wasn't terrible. I probably wouldn't go back but it was a good experience seeking out a new restaurant that's not a chain.

“Just a simple but great lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2012

Sometimes you don't need anything fancy to have a great lunch. Merle's was clean & bright. The waitress was quick & efficient. The coffee was fresh & smooth. The Asian stir-fry salad was tasty & the added steak was tender and a good portion. Jalapeno cornbread was a bonus. Good value too.

“Nothing special”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2012

The burgers are good, but the fries are salty, limp and greasy. Service is fine, but all the waitresses tell you it's "No problem" to do something and that they'll "Grab that" for you. It's like going back to high school.
My wife enjoyed her salads, and the iced tea refills were generous. All in all a decent meal, but nothing to recommend.

Worth a stop for breakfast and lunch. Impressed with the food and service. Nice friendly atmosphere. Prices were good for the quality of the food. Would recommend it to others.
