Do not let the previous reviews of AnyTrail discourage you from checking the place out...my husband and I were relocating to the area and needed a place to stay until our house was ready...we checked every place in leadville and the sorrounding areas, and Any Trail was by far the cheapest...If you want room service and a heated pool in this area, be prepared to pay any where from $100-$250 A NIGHT with weekly rates ranging from $300 TO $8OO (#&^^$*) in Vail...AnyTrail cost us $225.00 a week...and although the place is a bit older..and may not have designer sheets..our place was clean and accomadating. The manager lives right around the corner, and there is a sign on the door any time he is not there with a phone number to reach him...I witnessed more than once him coming out at midnight to get someone more supplies or blankets..or to check in a road weary traveler..Yes, the place is basic...you get a mini fridge, microwave, tv and internet hook ups...there is a laundry mat a block away, as well as a grocery store within walking distance. If you are only there for vaca then you should be out and about during the day anyway and not so worried about what is happening in your room. Any Trail is safe, convenient and quiet, and I would reccommend it to anyone..

Because of a flight delay, I was forced to stop in Leadville CO for one night rather than driving all the way to my Silverton destination. Sight unseen, I checked into the $50 a night "Any Trail Lodge." This "No Bang For The Buck" room was tiny, poorly lit and one of the filthiest in which I've stayed in 25 years of travel. It had a microwave, but it's revolving plate brandished some ancient, unidentifiable foodstuff courtesy of a previous occupant. Also, the mini-fridge breathed a gag-inducing stench into my face when I opened the door. The window sill had a quilt of dust and dirt, the toilet seat cover was broken and the shower stall was in an advanced state of dis-repair. In addition, I ran out of toilet paper and there was no back-up roll available.
Based on the 3rd-World cleanliness alone, I suggest strongly that you drive right by when visiting Leadville. The town itself is charming but unless outfitted with a Haz-Mat Suit rated "Ebola Virus" seek other accomodations at all cost.

  • Liked — The proprietor seemed friendly enough.
  • Disliked — Disgustingly dirty.

The Any Trails Lodge specializes in providing a place for athletes to acclimate before racing, cycling or other high-altitude events -- as well as a base camp for hunters, hikers, boaters, and fishing excursions.

If you are used to your room being an integral part of your comfort and enjoyment, this is not the place. It is basic, and not uncomfortable. We were with my 79-year old mother and aside from a little discomfort from the altitude she had no complaints.

If you are with a bunch of children, young adults, an athletic group or are on a sporting trip and need a base camp you will love the Any Trails Lodge.

As such, it is a very basic economy or budget motel. No frills and a bit run down. In June 2006 we paid $55, including tax, for each room. The rooms are small with two double beds, cable TV, small refrigerator and microwave, and a wall heater. The walls are thin and the bathroom small with tub-shower. Some rooms have adjoining doors.

Leadville is at 10,000 feet. and was at 32 degrees in June when Denver was in the 90's. The proprietor leaves at 5pm. If you don't know how to light the pilot light on old-fashioned wall heaters, ask the proprietor to light it before you arrive. Across the street from the motel is a narrow-gauge railroad that shuts down at dark, and the National Forest. Down the street is a modern Safeway. The motel is just out on the north end of the central historic district.
