“Truly unique! A memorable experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 25, 2013 via mobile

It is a tradition. Every winter we trek to Leadville, ski in the cold evening air, enter a toasty yurt, full of the scents of a great meal and a wood burning stove. Enjoy a nice hot cider, a glass of wine, delicious 4 course meal. Bundled back up we head to the base and the drive home. The food, service and all other components of the experience make this a one of a kind. You have to do this.

“Absolutely wonderful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2013

The whole sleep yurt and cookhouse provide a magical experience. We went in January with two other couples to snowshoe on the full moon, dinner at the Cookhouse Yurt and spend the night in a yurt. Honestly, chef John prepared one of the best meals we have ever eaten and we have eaten at many fine dining restaurants around the world. The ambience of the yurts is like no other experience. You will be amazed at the food prepared in a small kitchen with only one 110 outlet. We took friends from Louisiana to the cookhouse in August who also were impressed. This is well worth the trip. Roxanne and Ty have provided the utmost comfort and service in every aspect. You will not be disappointed. We've already booked our weekend in 2014. We are so grateful to have found this on the web November 2012! Be prepared for a European fine dining experience -- no rush or hurry to get through the meal.

“Mountain getaway - into a slice of grace!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

Ty and Roxanne have created such an incredible dining/viewing mountain experience. The artwork in the food and the yurt, the trails and the guides, are inspiring. The walk or ski in to the cookhouse is magical, and not too long... but they have snow sleds just in case. Decadent, elegant food... everything tastes better at the cookhouse, always. If you have the time and want a fancier endeavor, this shouldn't be missed. C'est tres bien!!!

“What a wonderful experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2013

We had a beautiful walk through the woods, followed by a fabulous meal.

All three of us had the elk with the side of blueberry sauce. It was done to perfection.

It was a bit on the spendy side, but I'm ok with that if the meal is of high quality, and the dining experience is memorable.

We brought our 16 year old son. He is sort of a foodie and really enjoyed it. However, I would not recommend it for families - it has more of an adult atmosphere.

“Worth the Walk”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2013

This is one of Colorado's most unique dining experiences.
It is located about 1 mile from the base of the Ski Cooper Ski area, a 15 minute drive from Leadville, CO.
The restaurant is in a Yurt at 10,000 + feet and requires a hike of 1 mile along a forest service road, They do have transportation for those who cannot handle the hike.
Reservations are required and you order at the time you make your reservation.
Check their web site at for details, menu, and price.

All dinners are 4 course and they have a good wine list.
This was a repeat visit and the quality of food and service is excellent and the views are outstanding.
Will be repeat customers.
