We were on our way north through the mountains and traveling with my parents who thought the Lake City road would be a scenic route. It was boring and not scenic to me, first of all. But I just got back from the Grand Canyon, Zion, Bryce and Mesa Verde so I may have skewered judgement on scenery at the moment. After traveling all morning we stopped in Lake acuity for a late lunch about 1 PM. I mention this because it was a Sunday and the place wasn't very busy at that point. The guy walking by told us to seat ourselves. One in our group wanted to sit outside. The little tables more suited to two than larger groups and spaced haphazardly about were all we could find and we had to borrow chairs from other tables to make it work. Eventually after a five minute wait for anyone to even notice us, someone took our drink order. The cokes were watered down and the lemonade tasted really weird. We ordered between us a corn dog, a grilled cheese, a blt and a cheeseburger. The people dining behind us finished and left while we waited for these super difficult items to get made. The table was cleaned and another group arrived probably five to ten minutes after the others left. Someone came and got their drink order, then their food order, still we waited. We already needed a drink refill and that refill was half drank by the time our food finally did arrive. The people who came in fifteen minutes after us got their food seconds after we did so what was so hard about our order we don't know. The bacon on the blt was overcooked and hard to eat. The "lightly toasted" bread was just warm. My son didn't like his grilled cheese. The corn dog breading looked burnt and the cheeseburger eater wasn't impressed either. A very disappointing lunch on a very disappointing day. Just to keep it all in perspective, our motel room for the night where we eventually stayed was just as disappointing. Worst day of our trip.
