“Excellent Fondue on the Mountain”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2013

Great location and tremendous atmosphere with the music of the Austrians. A little expensive with the add-ons that we included tot he meal but the quality and the service were excellent!

“Very slow service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2013

The restaurant is in a wonderful location, reached by gondola from Keystone. But the food is expensive and only average. Raw food is brought to the table to be cooked on individual griddles. I am not at all sure the raw chicken, beef, pork, shrimp and scallops should be piled on the same plate and wonder if it violates the health codes. No need to return.

“Overly pricey for what you get.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2013

The food is good and the environment fun and interactive, however what you get for the price you pay is very little. You could spend the same amount or a little more and have a three course meal elsewhere. From my experience and that of my friends, the serving sizes vs. price leaves a bitter taste in your mouth.

“Great fun”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2013

Kids loved the sausages that come standard with first course. We added bacon and green onions and was delicious dipping cauliflower, broccoli, apples into cheese. They showed you how to melt cheese onto precooked potatoes. Second course we added the elk to the meal and the herb rub along with fresh meat was amazing. The folk singers/accordion player really made the night memorable and had people singing and everyone up and dancing the chicken dance. Very festive environment. Chocolate fondue was great and we got the 50/50, half milk chocolate and half dark chocolate. Leisurely pace was enjoyable and walked out very full.

“Alpine Fun-Do!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 22, 2013

This is my second visit to Der Fondue Chessel, and I have to recommend it, because while it is quite expensive it is so much fun! To begin with, you must make a reservation. Then the fun begins with a gondola ride to the top. They will tell you give yourselves 45 mins-1 hour for this part of the night, and that is very realistic. Dress warmly for the gondola ride, but dress in layers because it gets hot in the restaurant.
The staff is fun and friendly. You might even forget that it's costing you $60 pp just to eat there! By the time you've guzzled cheese fondue, filled up on a variety of meats, veggies and potatoes, and you're doing the chicken dance while waiting for the chocolate fondue, you are having so much fun it's hard to believe you'll soon be wrapped in blankets floating back down the mountain in a cozy gondola.
