“Overly pricey for what you get.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2013

The food is good and the environment fun and interactive, however what you get for the price you pay is very little. You could spend the same amount or a little more and have a three course meal elsewhere. From my experience and that of my friends, the serving sizes vs. price leaves a bitter taste in your mouth.

“Great fun”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2013 via mobile

Kids loved the sausages that come standard with first course. We added bacon and green onions and was delicious dipping cauliflower, broccoli, apples into cheese. They showed you how to melt cheese onto precooked potatoes. Second course we added the elk to the meal and the herb rub along with fresh meat was amazing. The folk singers/accordion player really made the night memorable and had people singing and everyone up and dancing the chicken dance. Very festive environment. Chocolate fondue was great and we got the 50/50, half milk chocolate and half dark chocolate. Leisurely pace was enjoyable and walked out very full.

“Alpine Fun-Do!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 22, 2013

This is my second visit to Der Fondue Chessel, and I have to recommend it, because while it is quite expensive it is so much fun! To begin with, you must make a reservation. Then the fun begins with a gondola ride to the top. They will tell you give yourselves 45 mins-1 hour for this part of the night, and that is very realistic. Dress warmly for the gondola ride, but dress in layers because it gets hot in the restaurant.
The staff is fun and friendly. You might even forget that it's costing you $60 pp just to eat there! By the time you've guzzled cheese fondue, filled up on a variety of meats, veggies and potatoes, and you're doing the chicken dance while waiting for the chocolate fondue, you are having so much fun it's hard to believe you'll soon be wrapped in blankets floating back down the mountain in a cozy gondola.

“More then a meal”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2013

Our family dined at Der Fondue Chessel on Valentine's Day, 2013. The experience is worth the price that you pay. The gondola ride through the back country to the top of the mountain sets the tone for an adventure complete with your own blanket to off set the chill of the mountain. Once you are in the restaurant the atmosphere is more then inviting. An oversized fireplace, a friendly wait staff, and authentic bavarian music completes the setting. The variety of food and options were excellent. My husband upgraded to bison and I enjoyed the scallops and shrimp. We ended up taking two bags of leftovers home with us. This dining experience was the highlight of our trip for me.

“Fun and charming.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2013

First you get there you take 2 gondolas, where they give you a private car going up (including blankets to keep you warm). There you have a delightful bar which has some lovely concoctions (we opted for wine). At dinner you are served with a mini grill and fondue pot. We went classic so we had your traditional cheese fondue, grilled meats with dipping sauces, bread and chocolate fondue to finish. Way more food than we could eat. Throughout we were serenaded by a small roving band that played folk songs and ompah music. It was fabulous. I would recommend this experience to anyone who wanted something truly special on their ski trip.
