My family and I have been enjoying skiing Keystone for years now(usually 2 or 3 times every year). Unfortunately, its taken us that long to find Mountain View Sports. Thankfully we stayed at SummitCove.com this year and they highly recommended this ski shop and mentioned we get a 25% off discount because we were their guests. What a deal!
Upon arrival, we were greeted by a young blonde fellow (Trent or Trevor?) that I must admit looked like a "typical" boarder. He is proof that you can't judge a book by it's cover. Even though they were extremely busy during the President's Day weekend and us not having a reservation, he told us not to worry and that we were still eligible for the lodging discount.
After filling out our forms, he took us to the boot fitting section and got us in line for our boot fitting. Here, both he and his co-workers went to work finding boots for my family. My wife has always had troubles with finding comfortable boots. After she explained her issues, Trent(?) patiently explained what the most likely cause of her problems were from and how to correct them, which happened to be that she was leaning back in her boots and caused her shins to hurt and that she had most likely been wearing to big of a boot. Trent even went through it all for my entire family on what the proper skiing position is. No ski shop has ever taken the time to explain this to us. This alone helped increase our enjoyment on the slopes. This is especially so for my wife. Even though they were very busy they spent the time and effort with us until we were fitted in the proper fitted boots.
The ski fitting went very smooth. The ski techs were very knowledgeable and questioned us on what type of skiing we were planning on doing and what level of skier we were. They then made some suggestions and picked a suitable ski. I went with the Demo package and was pleasantly surprised by the RTM80 Volkls. What a difference they made!
I only have one little complaint, they didn't have two registers opened up for checkout as the line was a little long, but still pretty efficient considering the circumstances. Over all, it was a very well organized bunch of lads. My kids were pretty mesmerized by the disappearing boots down the "boot shoot" roller system that sent the boots to the ski techs. Very cleaver!
BTW, my wife's shins didn't hurt this time! Thanks to their patience, we had the best trip to Keystone yet! We just got back from our last trip, but this time we skied Arapahoe Basin since Keystone was already closed. With such great snow, why was Keystone closed??? Anyway, we still had the same experience as before with our ski rentals and will highly recommend them to anyone.
