“Fantastic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2014

What an experience. 2 gondolas to get there, fabulous views and terrific food. Chef's choice a treat. Pricey but worth every penny. A unique experience that is very special. Have been several times...a go to place when folks come in from out of state.

“A special exprience - but it's not Austria!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2014

The Stube looks and bills itself like an Austrian alpine restaurant, at the top of Keystone's gondola. And with good service and top-quality food, it delivers. Their prix-fixe meals weren't too inspiring, but you could put together a very rewarding meal from the a la carte offerings. The food arrived quickly, was well-plated, and tasted good. Entrees are a mixture of European (even Austrian) inspired food and Intermountain West hearty cuisine. You're welcomed by the manager on arriving, and given a customized menu for your party, and warmly bid adeu afterwards. The wine list is complete but not super imaginative. However, the presentation and food quality doesn't quite measure up to the best restaurants in Denver or San Francisco (my former home and reference standard) and is still further from the best restaurants (often in great hotels) in Austria. Yet the price is similar, so you have to consider the location as part of the value: after all riding a Gondola to dinner and eating on the top of a mountain are memorable experiences. Though beware, the view people talk about is mostly from the area around the restaurant and not visible through its windows, which mostly look out on ski runs and forest. Service was prompt and friendly but didn't have the attentiveness and knowledgeable staff that you'd get in a great European restaurant. I will be back, but probably only with out of town visitors since places like Mizuna in Denver are closer and offer slightly better food for most special occasions. But, if you want a romantic experience with someone special and some great memories, this is definitely a good choice. Be careful in planning, they aren't open every day or even year-round.

“Amazing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2014

It has been several years since we have had dinner at Keystone and Alpenglow will bring us back soon. The service was good for a 4 star restaurant, but the food was amazing! Everything we had was excellent - quality, taste, preparation and presentation. They have an amazing chef and it shows!

“Management Could Improve the Experience”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2014

The novel part of the experience was the gondola ride from River Run Village to the top of Dercum Mountain and the 11,400+ elevation of the restaurant.
The waiting time to be seated and approached by our server was a disappointment. We're certain no one appreciates being seated and ignored while others are seated afterward and promptly approached by their server while you are sitting there wondering who has the luck of the draw for your table. It was slow. That evening, July 4, the servers handled all the service matters . . . waiter, bus boy and runner. Unlike most high-end restaurants where there are many support staff, the respective table server was on his own. The food temperature was tepid to lukewarm and a filet mignon was undercooked and cool to the touch, twice, even after sending it back to be finished properly.
Sadly, the experience did not meet our expectations and we departed wondering how the restaurant is able to retain its 4 Diamond rating. To their credit, our server did his best to catch-up on the table service once he greeted us and they did remove the cost of the undercooked and uneaten filet from our bill.

“My Favorite Splurge While Skiing!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2014

Ski right up and park your skis, amble on inside and trade your ski boots for fuzzy slippers. This lovely, cozy restaurant offers a fantastic lunch and is the perfect place to relax before heading out on the slopes. Everyone's in ski clothing and the menu is less pricey than their dinner menu. I make it a point to always bring out of town guests here! Five stars!
