“Falling Apart”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2013

At first glance, UNIT #2670 looks great.

But then the cupboard doors fall off, the lampshades are melted and torn, there are no remotes for the tv's, the dust is thick and the garbage in the bedroom hasn't been emptied. Then there are the clothes left behind in drawers from previous renters. Did I mention the indescribable liquid that is smeared on the back of the bathroom walls? One bed is so uncomfortable that the couple we vacationed with had to split up and sleep on the couch and in a bed with their child. There are two very small, dirty hot tubs on the property. Our key wouldn't work to let us back into the building so it was a cold walk around the building in a swimsuit. *LADIES: Bring a hair dryer as none is provided! We are SO disappointed in this place and if we were the owners, we'd be furious at the lack of upkeep!!!!
LOCATION: It is a 10 minute walk to the lift. For transportation to a restaurant, etc. you need to call a shuttle. TIP: The sleigh ride dinner is terrific. BOTTOM LINE: Stay at the Keystone Lodge and avoid this place at all cost.

Great location, 5-6 minute walk to Keystone's Mountain House lifts. Two bedroom unit very clean and nicely decorated. Rented through ResortQuest, staff very friendly, check in process quick and easy. Price very reasonable compared to other condos I researched in Keystone area. Would definitely stay there again!

We spent Christmas with our kids at the Tenderfoot Lodge. I was a little apprehensive booking a place since we have never been to Keystone before. After much research on my end, I decided to book through SkyRun Condos. They are very helpful and organized. No problems at all. I even asked what the parking garage height was, since we were considering putting on our Thule on top of the Yukon. She wasn't sure so she gladly went to the Lodge to find out. It is 6'8". Not tall enough for the topper but there is outdoor parking also.
We stayed in Unit #2616. The condo is much nicer then the pictures show. Plenty of room for us and our three adult children. It will sleep 8 with the pull-outs, but I wouldn't stay with more then six. This place is very clean and fairly new. Well stocked kitchen. Comfortable beds. Great view. The only thing I would suggest is to bring your own pillow. The ones there are foam and flat. This place is close to Mountain House Base so we walked to the lifts everyday. It really isn't a bad walk at all. I love this base the best. It's not as busy as River Run and the runs are great for beginners and occasional skiers. This resort is in a quiet place. If you want action, you will have to go to River Run.
We rented our skis through Mountain View Sports. It;'s right next to SkyRun Condos. If you rent through SkyRun you get 25% off you ski rentals. I would recommend renting the ski's online before you get there. It's makes the process go much more smoothly, and you can make size changes if you need to when you get there. You can also pick up your ski's after 4 pm and not get charged for that day.
Some restaurants we went to was Salt Creek in Breckenridge and Wolf River Brewery in River Run. Wolf River was much tastier. If you want to order a pizza and take it back to the Lodge, Pizza on the Run in River Run was excellent.
I would go back to Keystone in a heartbeat and stay at this place again. We had a great Christmas 2008.

Great week skiing in Keystone. The resort is just excellent. Most of the slopes are groomed daily (with posted weather and grooming reports), the mountain guest services folks are friendly, lift lines were short, trick park maintenance was outstanding, lots of variety for various ski/boarding abilities.

We'll be back to Keystone but likely not at Tenderfoot (unit 2601). Overall the lodge is beautiful, decent location to slopes (8-10 min walk to lift), nice view, easy underground parking and clean hot tubs.

The unit (2601) was comfortable but not that well maintained. Simple things like television remote control, toaster, and bed mattress (very hard). My son and I were in bed early but could hear neighbors at night. Followed printed instructions for wireless network, but still had problems getting a connection. Called ResortQuest for help, person seemed bothered, said she'd contact the unit's owner and get back to me. Never got a response, ended up using another unit’s non-secured wireless network. Frustrating part was I asked them about internet access when I booked since I knew I needed to take care of some business while away.

This place is a gem!! We had such a GREAT time...we stayed on the first floor and could walk right out the door to the fishing/bike path/ and skiing (altho we didnt do that in August)...It was quiet and had a great entry area where we could meet up before going to dinner for the evening. I highly recommend this property for families (we have two busy kids)...the rooms were nicely decorated and stocked with everything we would need.

We booked a two week stay at the Tenderfoot Lodge through Bookit.com. We were traveling both for business (to attend a conference) and for pleasure. Midway during the first week of our stay painting began on Tenderfoot Lodge. At 7 in the morning we were awoken by work crews on cherry pickers hammering plastic over the windows at the condominium complex. The next day the windows to our condominium were completely covered by plastic. There was no air conditioning and our condo subsequently became unbearably hot. We also had painters peering into our condominium through the door to the balcony. The Key to the Rockies management company was responsible for our booking. We called them and they said they were unaware of any painting going on at Tenderfoot and would get back to us. This management company is all of two buildings down from Tenderfoot. At this point we were in the middle of our conference and were having to wait for responses from Key to the Rockies. They finally switched us to another condominium in Hidden River but demanded that we return keys etc. on their schedule despite our obligations at the conference. Needless to say we want to warn any other travelers to Keystone about this particular management company. They are not competent nor were they particularly apologetic about our experience. This review has nothing to do with the owners of the condominium itself. It was very nicely decorated and furnished.

  • Liked — Nicely decorated and furnished condominium.
  • Disliked — Incompetent management company

I own and operate Key To The Rockies Lodging Company. I recently became aware of this guests experience while staying with us, and would like to take the opportunity to respond to their review.
I regret the stay was such an unpleasant experience with our company. We obviously should have been more aware of the exterior building maintenance that was to occur at Tenderfoot Lodge during their stay. Had we known this, we would have certainly booked their reservation in another property.
In this case, we don't actually manage the building, only this particular condominium. Another company managing the building was undertaking the painting project at the time. It is unfortunate too, that the alternate accomodations in Hidden River, next door was also unacceptable to them as well.

We take pride in meeting our guests expectations and try to operate our rental management business in the most professional manner. However, it doesn't appear that we were very attentive in handling this situation. We've since reviewed our booking and reservations procedures and will take the necessary steps to help avoid these conflicts in the future.

I have extended an invitation to the reviewer, to come back to Keystone to stay with us, on a complimentary basis, as our special guest, in an effort to show them that we are capable of professional hospitality. I hope they'll give us a call.
