“Underwhelming But one of Few Restaurants Open”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2014

The Kickapoo has the atmosphere of most of Keystone. Log buildings and mountain decor. It was one of the few restaurants available for the evening meal. The food was acceptable , but the prices are on the high side. We went to the restaurant for a family meal. The waitress was prompt and polite, but seemed annoyed we weren't drinking and didn't order an appetizer. The steak I ordered was prepared as requested. The meals were prepared well. A taco meal was ordered and came with two small tacos, really appetizer size. They were served with beans and rice that weren't even mentioned on the menu. The special for the evening was trout which was excellent.

“Good wings!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2014

We visited this restaurant twice while at Keystone. The first time we were a larger group of 7. Horrible service on this visit. Our waitress was very cocky and not in a "friendly fun" kind of way. She could really not be bothered to do much. One person in our party had a hair in their food - we had to actually request a new plate and ask that it be taken off the bill. No offer given by the waitress- more of a "suck it up" attitude on her part.
So why would we go back? The food was good overall (especially the wings and burrito! Green chili was awesome!) and it is one of a few places open that is not pizza or a steakhouse) - second visit was much better! Granted there were only 2 of us- but service was very good and food good. Setting is nice- if weather permits the deck outside is lovely.

“Great Bar & Grill”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2014

A very busy place with nice outside seating. Seating and service was prompt, and our waiter was great.

The food is very good; we both enjoyed our late lunch. They also feature a host of tap beers.

Very good grill and bar scene.

“EXPENSIVE!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2014

THis is one of the more "hip" places in keystone. Service was good, location good, good idea, but expensive for what you get. We ordered 2 beers, 2 glasses of white wine, 2 double vodka, a french dip and nachos and was 150 dollars! I mean it was fine food, but I would rather save that cash for somwhere more upscale.

“Setting can't be beat!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2014

Our favorite time to visit Kickapoo Tavern is during the summer months when you can sit comfortably on the deck. The service can be a bit slow but the setting and view are hard to beat. Portions are more than adequate and everything gives the impression of being fresh. I really have never had a bad experience at Kickapoo; however, the deck is designed for large groups (6-10 people) or those who will share their table with others--a good way to meet someone new. I recommend that they consider reducing the size of the "picnic" tables so the deck can accommodate more people at one time as once a table for 10 is occupied even by only 2 people, very few people will ask to share. All-in-all, a visit to Kickapoo won't be disappointing to most visitors.
