“Great place to stop before Mt Evans!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2012

We drive up to Mt Evans, CO several times per summer. We stop at Echo Lake Lodge often but, never eat there. This past Saturday we decided to stop for breakfast. What a wonderful, casual spot to stop for a break. The staff is SUPER friendly, the breakfast was very good. I had an omelette and it was cooked perfectly. The summer restaurant manager told us she has just baked home-made cinnamon rolls. The 4 of us shared one and it truly was a treat. We noticed that they sold slices of pie. So, on our way down from Mt Evans we stopped by to pick up 4 pieces of pie for our picnic lunch down the road by the Echo Lake. The coconut cream pie was one of the best we had ever had. YUMMMM!!!!!

“Friendly and nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2012

It looks like only place to take a rest and buy souvenir before and after the tour of Mt. Evans. But staffs in the shop and restaurant were friendly and well operated. I had Steak Sandwitch in the restaurant which was good and not so expensive.

“Wanted to like it, but couldn't”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2012

The Lodge itself is great, classic log construction from early 20th century and a nice view of Echo Lake. The gift shop has all the usual tourist crap, but thankfully it also sold a hiking map and long sleeve jackets, useful. As for the food. The food. Is. Bad. A grilled ham and cheese was made with lowest common denominator cheese ...Velveeta?... and the ham was chewy. Cole slaw was limp. My s.o. had a hamburger ...he is not a picky eater at all and he said it was not good. It's also not cheap. They could do so much with that dining room, and don't. As for the pie, I looked at it through the case and was not impressed with the look of the crust so skipped it. I am glad it's there... we were camping at Echo Lake and a rainstorm made cooking impractical.... but the concessionaire really needs to be upgraded.

“Crowded”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2012

Neat little shop/restaurant before entering Rocky Mountain National park. Lots of kitschy trinkets...but reasonably priced.

“Ah-mazing!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2012

Stopped here for lunch with the family up to mount Evans. The gift shop is great- lots of unique items that I haven't seen before.

Next, sat down in the dining room for lunch. Ate a bacon cheeseburger, buffalo chili with corn bread and coconut cream pie. It was delicious. The buffalo chili was the best chili I have eaten anywhere. When I was finished with the bowl, I wanted another one but was stuffed. The coconut cream pie was amazing as well.

Echo lake lodge was definitely a must eat/see stop on the way to the summit. I'm gonna dream about that chili.
