My friend wanted to stay in a 5-star hotel, but I convinced him that to have a "real" Colorado experience we needed to stay in a cabin. My internet search for a "cabin near Denver" came up with Call of the Canyon and it was PERFECT. Especially for a guy who is used to 5-star hotels! It was rustic-yet-modern, immaculate, and every detail had been thought out, down to the cozy bathrobes, fluffy towels, flannel sheets and handmade soaps. We had a private sauna, which combined with dips in the cold creek made for a very feel-good natural spa experience. We made use of the hammock for naps, the creekside chairs for morning coffee, the charcoal grill for steaks, and the fireplace for S'mores. We also did a gorgeous hike up the Hell's Hole trail. All this and we had the luxury of privacy -- there were no people around. This was far better than any hotel and my friend is still thanking me for making such a good choice.
