My mom, dad, and I stayed at this hotel over Thanksgiving in 2 rooms for 3 nights. We booked a great rate through the hotel's website for $67.46 a night, per room ($404.76 total). We chose the hotel because of price and proximity to my sister's house.
When we checked in on Wednesday we were asked if we wanted housekeeping service on Thanksgiving, if not a bag with fresh towels & toiletries would be left in a bag outside our door (though we found out they didn't include a new bathmat in the bag which would have been nice. We told them that was fine. The rooms were nice enough.
We went to my sister's shortly after checking in and I told the front desk that the fridge in my room was making a loud grinding noise. They said they were familiar with the fridges doing that & would have maintenance take a look at it. Came back to the room late that night and fridge was still making the noise so I unplugged it. That night the entire hotel lost power & phone lines for about 3 hours. Also noticed the clock radio in the room was off and I couldn't reset it.
The next day (Thanksgiving) told the front desk about the clock and reminded them about the fridge, they said they didn't have any maintenance people on until Friday, but it would be taken care of then. Also asked about the power outage, and they said they weren't sure what had happened. I asked if they were going to offer the $10 breakfast for free or at a reduced cost due to the inconvenience and they said no. (For the bklynguy that said it's not expensive, maybe not in NYC, but it is in Denver)
That night the wireless Internet access went down. When my dad called the front desk, they said it was working in the lobby and he could go down there to use it. Needless to say, not the answer we were looking for.
On Friday the Internet access was still intermittent and I had to use my wifi to check-in for our flight. It was working slightly better Friday night.
When we checked out on Saturday morning my fridge was still unplugged and the time on the clock was still off, because neither had been fixed.
One other thing - someone down the hall had used a plunger and left in the hall in a trash bag, it sat there for at least 2 days.
In the end at least we had some shelter over our heads, the "adjustable" beds were a bit ridiculous and were a novelty at most, we got a good deal on the rooms so we were ok with the optional service on Thanksgiving, plus thought it was nice of them to only have a few staffers working on Thanksgiving.
However, when the hotel loses power and phones, even if it's not their fault and even if it was at night, the least they could do is offer a reduced or free breakfast, especially if you have chosen to forgo housekeeping service that day (after all they didn't have to pay that staff to work on a holiday). Also, telling someone at 11:00 PM they can use the wifi in the lobby when it is supposed to be available in the rooms is not great customer service.
Don't know how the pool was it closed by 9 or 10, and we didn't get back until then.
Gave this hotel an average rating based on the price we paid, if we had paid the $125 a night rate (price at the time of review) it would have received a poor rating.
