We stayed here on our recent road trip of southwest Colorado. It was a convenient place to stay after a visit to Mesa Verde. It is located close to Durango and is an easy drive over for good restaurant choices.

Our room was large and well suited to 2 adults and 2 kids (Mesa Verde Suite). There was a living area downstairs and sleeping up. The room was decorated with southwestern items and rugs, but was not kitshy. There was a window a/c upstairs - it was hot so that was definately necessary.

The grounds are lovely, with a lot of paths and grassy areas for kids to explore. The owner, Dave, was very friendly and offered us a lot of suggestions on activities that the kids would enjoy, like playing in the nearby river.

The breakfast was very good - fresh fruit, granola, tamales and other items. The whole place is very clean and well cared for.

Although the place was fine for kids, it seems especially suited to couples and reunion groups. They have a couple larger cabins and homes available, and we saw some grills for guests use.

just back from a trip to the southwest and the blue lake ranch was absolutely our top accommodation. a gorgeous setting, amidst tons of flowers, made more perfect by great breakfasts and a gracious host. communications need improvement, but other than that, great. a wonderful place for visiting mesa verde, and durango.

We just got back from our 6th visit to this wonderful place. Each time is better than the last. The grounds, all planted by the host and his staff abound in color most of the year. All of the accommodations are fabulous; spacious, well appointed and accented with American Indian arts and crafts. The staff is the best we have ever encountered. Helpful without being over solicitous.

Some comments have been made about their breakfasts. Yes, we have stayed at places with better breakfasts. But there are two hot entrees that change daily, homemade granola and an array of toppings, fresh muffins, bagels and juices and delicious coffee. The views are spectacular, the common areas done in exquisite taste and three wonderfully friendly cats prowling the property. Throw in close proximity to Durango, Mesa Verde and Telluride and it's just about the perfect place to stay.

I think my title says it all - if you are looking for a romantic getaway, Blue Lake Ranch is your answer! Set among wildflowers on a beautiful private lake, you don't need to leave!

My husband and I stayed in the Cedar Casita and it was so romantic - it is a the size of a small house, and the bathroom is amazing - what a bathtub!! Worth every penny!

The breakfasts are to die for - we were so bummed the owner wouldn't give us the recipe for the granola!

A perfect spot to smooch!
