“Stunning Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2013

This quietly tucked away Ranch near the Mesa Verde Mountains was perfect for a friends get-together. The cabins are comfortable with lots of rustic charm, with rooms large enough for a gathering, and the location was centally located enough to enjoy shopping in Durango and days trips into Silverton. The Aspens in the fall are stunning making it a great writers' or artists' retreat.

This is a great family friendly and pet friendly place. We stayed in the school house which has a small kitchen, a 3/4 bathroom, a queen bed and a queen futon. We were a little disappointed that the creek isn't really accessible for the kids to play in, but we still had a great time. Washing dishes is a bit of a challange because there isn't a faucet in the kitchen sink so you have to bring water from the bathroom to the kitchen. Do yourself a favor and bring disposable plates and cups.

We spent 3 nights at Cherry Creek Mountain Ranch, using it as a base for exploring this area of Colorado. It is isolated, several miles down a gravel road, and the cabin sits on a hill above the owner's residence. The cabin is new. It has a large open kitchen, dining, and living area, a bedroom downstairs and a loft upstairs with 3 single beds. There is one bathroom and a laundry area. There is also a renovated school house on the property which would be perfect for a couple.
The property is about 45 minutes to Durango, 20 minutes to the town of Mancos (fantastic bakery!) and 45 minutes to Mesa Verde.
Amber and her husband, Tim, are wonderful hosts. Amber gave us lots of suggestions for places to go and events happening in the area. She graciously showed us the horses and gave us a tour of the property. There are friendly dogs just waiting to be petted and a cat sleeping in a tree.
The road the ranch is on is perfect for walking or riding a bicycle.
There is also a wood heated sauna by the cabin, which was so relaxing after a day exploring Mesa Verde.
I loved it, and highly recommend it for families with yound children or teens.
