I stayed at this hotel on the recommendation of a potential employer flying me to Denver for a job interview. I definitely enjoyed my stay and would recommend this hotel to other travelers.
This hotel is obviously quite popular given the recent renovations. Two different groups used the hotel's meeting facilities for their respective conventions, and volleyball teams from both U of Tennessee and U of Iowa stayed here while competing at a local tournament!
I checked in on a Thursday night around 11:30 p.m. There were only two staff members behind the desk which made for a short wait while they assisted another couple AND the Tennessee volleyball team. When it was my turn, however, I was greeted with a smile and the warmed chocolate-chip cookie for which Doubletree's are famous!
My room, a king-size bed with sofa bed, was very spacious and clean. It included a mirrored closet with wooden hangers, counter space within the bathroom, and a small coffee table. I particularly enjoyed the Neutrogena bath amenities and the very easy-to-use two-cup coffeemaker. Free wi-fi access was a bonus!
I was able to access my room throughout various times during the day. The housekeeping staff were very friendly, and I loved that this hotel was environmentally-sustainable in not washing my sheets or towels during my stay.
For coffee fanatics like me, a Dazbog Coffee store is located right inside the hotel.
There was ample free parking available outside for my car, and the hotel is very conveniently located near a gas station (good for those of us who had to return rentals at the airport). The Orchard St Light Rail station was within walking distance, and a short drive to Arapahoe Blvd or Belleview Ave provided access to grocery stores, restaurants, etc.
I did not use either of the pools, the fitness center, or room service during my stay. The pools, while small, looked nice and the fitness room appeared to be clean.
Only two minor complaints:
- My door occasionally stuck in the frame while trying to enter the room.
- The elevator serving the western wing of the hotel absolutely reeked of smoke. However, given that the hallways in this wing also smelled, I can only presume that this wing had the smoking rooms. Fortunately, there were plenty of other elevators for me to use.
Check-out was a breeze. Since I had previously provided my credit card on check-in, the hotel simply slid a statement under my door by 6 a.m. on my departure day. I left the key in my room and was on my way!
As I mentioned earlier, I would definitely recommend this hotel to other travelers especially those visiting the Denver Tech Center (DTC) or convention-goers.
