“GREAT Hotel, must stay!!!”

This hotel was great! I was a little nervous staying there because I read some reviews about it that were so-so, but it was cheap, so I gave it a try. I was so happy that I did.

The Hotel:
They are completely re-doing the hotel. When I was there in Feb 08 everything was done but the dining room. (Which wasn't a big deal because there are plenty of places to eat right around there) It looked very upscale with a Sheridan or West hotel feel. Not to mention, they had a little bar off the main entrance and pool tables in the huge open space lobby. They do have a little- very very little- pool inside the hotel and a decent on outside. It looked okay, but I never went in it.

The Room:
I had just a standard room with a king size bed, and the room was wonderful!!!!! It had the bed, a couch- with a pull our bed, a huge desk, dressers, a walk-out balcony and plenty of room to spread out. The bed was really comfortable, and there were tons of pillows. The room was completely updated, and the bathroom was really nice. Again, I thought I was in a West hotel.

Location:
Depending on what you are doing in Denver, you will probably need to rent a car. The hotel is right off the highway, which is nice, but it is located outside of the downtown area. We went to a ski resort, that took about an hour 1/2 to drive to, while we were there. The drive was pretty and it sure beats paying resort prices!

As one reviewer said, this is not a resort or family hotel, but the condition of the bathroom and furniture (stone countertops) were good quality and looked practically new. I was not seeking my social or entertainment experience in the hotel. It was very quiet. It is very close to I-25 so I could get downtown fast. And it is next to the new light rail system. The exercise room was fairly basic but clean. The entrances and restaurant are what are being redone at the moment. Housekeeping was fine and the towels were plentiful and thick. My single room with king bed had a sofa, table, desk, TV, and free internet. I thought it was a fantastic deal through an online package.

    • Liked — Sizeable room that was quiet and comfortable.
    • Disliked — No real food service except coffee and rolls in the morning.

“It is what it is”

Doubletree Hotel Denver Tech

Feb 29, 2008

Hotel booked through hotwire and received a great price for the room. I assume the rooms are discounted because some outside areas are still under construction. This is a business hotel, not a resort destination. Rooms are basic, comfortable, and clean with wireless internet and a large desk with network connections. The linens are of reasonable quality. No mini bar - go get your own, the walk will do you good especially if you plan to model your new thong at the rather exposed lobby pool. The lobby is attractive with a large waterfall and bar. The desk staff were pleasant and helpful with directions. There is a 24 hour convience store adjacent to the property for reasonably priced late-night snacks. Convenient to malls in Aurora (10 minutes) and a 20 minute drive to discount malls in Castle Rock. Other than that, the place is designed and situated to meet the needs of tech center business travellers ( middle management please -if you book your CEO here you mayl be seeking employment with the renovation crew). It is a 30 minute drive ( non- rush hour) to the airport in good weather and about the same to Denver. I would suggest driving south to the tollway to access the airport at peak traffic times. The rooms could use a little TLC once the other renos are completed. Little things like a handgrip in the shower ready to detach itself from the wall. The toilet malfunctioned twice but they did respond and repair promptly. The patio door glass was separated from the frame and had a 1/4 inch gap top to bottom. Would have been drafty if the curtains were not so thick. As mentioned in a previous review the back parking lot door is not locked as advertised and should be for guest safety. Currently an excellent value but the rooms require attention to detail to make them worthy of rack rates.

    • Liked — Comfortable and quiet
    • Disliked — A bit far from the airport

We were very happy with the hotel. The rates were very low due to the construction, but the construction was no problem. I wish all my hotels had such a discount when there is construction. The place was clean and much of it looked new inside (60's-style decor, but I think it was brand new decor). The room was clean and big. Desk staff was nice and professional.

“No on-site restaurant”

Doubletree Hotel Denver Tech

Dec 13, 2007

This hotel is being remodeled, but the stay was still pleasant. Although a complimentary breakfast was supposed to be included, the restaurant isn't even open. Hotels.com quickly refunded our money. Their customer service was impecable.
