“Beautiful property and park like grounds”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2013

There are several beautiful parks nearby. Except for a leaky refrigerator the rest of the room was great. We had a suite and for the price it was an excellent deal. The suite was large and well appointed. I'm giving the room itself 3 stars due to the leaky refrigerator and the resulting wet carpeting. The suite was large enough for us to walk around. I'm giving service 2 stars for the way they handled the situation by not sending someone to finish cleaning the refrigerator or doing anything about the pile of wet towels left inside. Other than that this was one of the better properties in the La Quinta chain.

I am normally one not to complain & I don't ever expect more than I pay for, however we needed a place to stay 1 night after already spending a lot on a family vacation in breckenridge. We planned on hitting a rockies game & visiting Red rocks & the Coors brewery. We're looking for a central place to spend the night... should have splurged a little more. oh well.

Pro's - (always try to be positive)
1. friendly staff with quick response to our requests.
2. okay breakfast - basic continental stuff.
3. nice option of game room by pool, but it is pay to play pool & air hockey/ video games
4. reasonably comfortable bed
5. close to variety of restaurants

Cons:
1. whole hotel needs updating. Lobby & eating area weren't too bad, but our room was very outdated with OLD carpet. As other review, I did not want to walk barefoot. Lampshades & curtain sheers were stained.
2. Bathroom was tiny & out of date. No drain cover in shower.
3. horrible smoky/ musty smells through hallways (esp. lower level)
4. missing remote in bedroom area
5. only 2 towels in room & 1 washcloth/ hand towel (this was a suite)
6. No pillows or cases for the pull out
7. No trash can liners
8 Only 2 clean towels in pool area & a huge pile of wet dirty ones - no hamper or drop off place??
9. Lots of police cars outside, on 2 different occasions. Saw cops chasing someone at the Motel 6 next door as well. Makes you wonder how safe the area is??

I am sorry to say, but I do not think I would choose to stay here again.

The lobby was very nice and clean; the hot tub downstairs was nice; pool tables, air hockey, and other arcade games downstairs were cool; beds were pretty comfortable; TV and internet worked OK.

There were a couple ladies at the front desk that were very nice, and helped us with directions and other services. The other lady we encountered later on (which I will give details about in next paragraph), not so much.

Our experience with room service and customer service was horrible. The carpet was grungy, parts of the hotel allow smoking in rooms, but the whole hotel (elevators included) smelled of smoke. The rooms were disgustingly dirty, especially in the harder-to-see places such as under the beds and behind furniture; it looked like it had not been cleaned in years. House keeping did NOT do their job, that is, unless we reminded them to bring in fresh towels and empty out trash. Even then, they did not bother taking the DIRTY TOWELS with them, or making up the beds. When we were checking out, we complained to one of the ladies at the front desk, and she basically told us it was our fault that we did not get adequate service, because we should have called the front desk for house keeping services. She said sorry a couple times, then said "next time you do this" and "next time you do that." She did not mention anything about talking to housekeeping staff or making an effort to do better next time.

As a high school student involved in DECA, a program in which I've learned a lot about CUSTOMER SERVICE, I know what good and bad customer service is. Aside from the two very nice ladies at the front desk, our experience with customer service was the worst I have ever seen in a hotel. Good customer service is a necessity for running a good business, and I can say I'm not at all impressed with La Quinta's service at all.

Overall this hotel was acceptable and suited our needs for location and amenities. The room was basically clean as was all the bedding and bathroom. The breakfast was good with a fair amount of variety, although we were there in July and the only fruit they offered for breakfast was red apples. The pool and jaccuzzi was adequate and towels were provided. The hall and hotel room carpets were extremely dirty and stained. I was even hesitant to go barefoot in my room. The hallways smelled musty and old and in need of a cleaning. They did allow pets so this may have contributed to the off smell. However, our room on the third floor did smell clean and I did not notice any smoke smells. The rooms all had small frigs and a small microwave. We did ask the desk attendant about a local market and she had no clue. It turned out there was one just across the street. Lots of restuarants nearby and Target across the street too. Overall it was more than adequate for our needs

Room Tip: If you dont have pets with you stay on the upper floors
