“Nice Overnight”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2014

We stayed overnight at the Inn and had a very nice time. The room is cute and rustic. The fireplace is a nice touch. Everything was clean. The outdoor deck looked great for sitting by the firepit and they roast marshmallows at nice. Unfortunately we had rain and couldn't Enjoy. Breakfast is sufficient for getting a small bite to eat and getting on the road. One room tip, ask for one in which the balcony has a nice full view of the lake. We made a late reservation and overlooked the parking lot, with the trees blocking most of our view- had we booked earlier with more availability, we would have requested a better view. The service was good. Nice dinner recommendations. The beauty of this area is fantastic and definitely take a drive through the Rocky Mountain National Park. It's amazing!

Room Tip: One room tip, ask for one in which the balcony has a nice full view of the lake.

If you've just had a long ride through Rocky Mountain National Park, or have come over Berthoud Pass, you will want to come stay here! You can truly relax! The views are majestic! Lisa, the manager, and her staff, go out of their way to please you. Their bar/lobby is very open and full of friendly people from all over. You can sit outside on the deck or inside in front of the fire. Later in the evening, they will light the outdoor fire pits and you can roast old time s'mores. They have the best happy hour prices in town. Every day from 4-6! Be sure to have your camera with you, as it is very common to see moose, black bear and beautiful rainbows The only drawback is, there isn't a restaurant.

Room Tip: Pay the extra price and get a lake view.

We stayed here after a long day in Rocky Mountain National Park. The rooms are clean and the staff was friendly. The furniture is all done up in log cabin style and has such a nice rustic feel. Something they did while we were there is that they had all their fire pits lit around their beautiful deck overlooking the mountains. They brought out packages of marshmellows, chocolate bars and graham crackers with skewers. So many of us sat around our own pits making s'mores under the stars. It was just a really cute touch. It doesn't cost them a lot to make up these "smore kits" but yet they make a memory and lasting impression. Kudos to this Inn.

We stayed here with our three teens on August 14 in the 2 queen plus 1 twin bunk room. This hotel is very comfortable and rustic. Loved the wood decor and lodge feel. When we arrived, the lounge was busy. They have a huge deck with very active hummingbird feeders and fire pits. S'more ingredients were available but by the time we came back from dinner there were only marshmallows left for toasting over the fire pit. The lounge was quieter, so our teens enjoyed the shuffleboard and other games. The lounge area closed at 10 pm. Breakfast was average but sufficient. There was fresh fruit, cereal, hot cereal, bagels and breads for toasting. The coffee was not very good, but in my opinion, hotel coffee rarely is. We picked this hotel because of the reasonable price and room that sleeps 5. The room was good-sized and had a refrigerator. We didn't notice anything unacceptable about the mattresses, but we were very tired travelers. We wished we could stay longer.

The mattress was awful. We about took it off the bed and slept on the floor it was that bad. The room size was decent but the bathroom was really small. The sink faucet leaked and drove me crazy. The shower curtain hung in the bathtub so you had to step on it while you took a shower. The front desk was really nice. There was a VERY small breakfast area with not much to eat.

Thank you for writing a review! All of our King mattress are new as of last summer, the Queens we are working on getting new ones. Also we would have been more then glad to look at the sink and try to get the faucet from leaking. Also, yes as we state when people check in we do have a free breakfast but it is nothing fancy just hot and cold cereal, bread and fruit. Thank you for writing a review!

The room was very nice, clean and beautiful view from our balcony. The included breakfast provided a good assortment with fresh fruit, bread assortments, cereal , yogurt, eggs, coffee, juice.

The entire stay was spoiled by the music and very loud noise of a few people on the deck outside the bar which was just below and to the right of our room, #201. We could not enjoy our balcony or even inside with the doors shut all evening. It was the loudest noise I have ever experienced at any motel or hotel.

Wifi was supposed to be available but was not from 2 PM when I checked in until 8 AM the next morning so don' t count on it.

Room Tip: Stay far away from outdoor deck, bar area

Thank you for taking the time to write a review! We are happy you like the room and the breakfast. We are sorry that you thought our hotel was loud, there are some nights where we have music, but they stop playing at 9 and the bar closes down at 10 pm. We try to make sure that the music and bar noise it shut down no later then 10 pm, also we have doors that we close to every section of the hotel rooms to try even hard to block the noise. I would suggest if you are sensitive to noise look at our music calendar so you know when to not come. As for the Wifi, this is the first year we have had a problem with it, we have our tech guy looking into it. It has been acting weird and we are on it. Sorry again for the loudness and no Wifi, we hope you give us another chance. Thanks again for taking the time to write a review.

We stayed only one night and enjoyed the hotel. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. The view from the deck was great as the hotel is situated on a hill overlooking the lake and the beautiful valley around Grand Lake. The room was large and reasonably well-appointed. The bed was enormous and very comfortable. It would have been nice to have a comfortable chair in the room but there were two "desk chairs" and a table.

On the negative side, the bathtub had not been cleaned very well as there was hair and some dirt. Also, the carpet in the room could have been vacuumed better. The included breakfast was fairly simple, but adequate. Even though our room was on the lake side, it was on the north wing and we could not see the lake, Rooms on the west side of the building overlook the parking lot. It is quite a walk to the lake or downtown, but we were aware of that before we came.

Consequently, although we enjoyed staying at the hotel, we found that the inadequacies for $170 a weekday night caused us not to rate the hotel very high.
