“Nice...and clean!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

Enjoyed our stay here. Had a view of the lake. Since we were there on a holiday, it was empty but it was nice to feel like we had the place to ourselves. Used the fitness center, but unfortunately it was way too cold to venture out to the hot tub. Rooms are nice, big and clean. We had a king bed, balcony and gas fireplace (plus a refrigerator). It's the 'newest' place in the town. We checked out other places ahead of time and they are all pretty rustic and run down....but rates are the same. We would definitely stay there again. Would be even better if they offered AAA/AARP discount and had a bigger menu in the lounge/bar.

Room Tip: Worth paying extra to have a balcony and be on the lake side.

Thanks for the review! We are glad that you enjoyed your stay. We are paying attention to our guest requests and have AAA/AARP/Military rates as well as repeat guest rates. We are also in the process of negotiating a lease on the kitchen so there will be more food options for you the next time you visit. Take care and thanks again! Lisa

The stay was ok. Mattress was thin. The complimentary shampoo and lotion were used. I picked this Inn because the location is closed the Park entrance. However, I prepaid the reservation online. After the staying, I got charged again. I tried to contact the Inn, no resolution was made. The credit card company tried to contact them for me. The result was no response from the Inn. If you were me, you 're better to have a second thought.

Thank you for your review. Without reviews (good or bad) we would never know how our guests are realy feeling about their stay. I sent a private message to you to make sure that your problem was resolved. We also just ordered new mattresses. :) Take care and thanks again. Lisa

If you're looking for a place with immediate access to Rocky Mountain National Park, this is the place for you. Gorgeous views, comfortable rooms, and friendly staff are enough to make it worth a stay, but there is an excellent exercise room and lots of sitting areas scattered about. There is no restaurant, but the ribs available on the premises were so good we had a second night of them. One caution: don't get so caught up in shopping at Grand Lake, taking in the nearby attractions, and enjoying the Atmosphere of the Inn that you short-change the best of all which is Rocky
Mountain National Park. Take time to drive Trail Ridge Road, view the wildlife and enjoy the great hiking. A rewarding stay!

I booked this hotel on a Groupon deal for a getaway for my husband and me. We had reserved a room with a lake view and fireplace, but on our drive to the hotel, we received a call saying that there was a plumbing issue with our room and they needed to move us to a different room and the only options they had left were mountain views. I said that was fine, but when we got there, not only didn't we have the lake view, but they neglected to tell us that we also didn't have a fireplace in the new room. We liked the room very well. It was very quaint and homey and very quiet. And we did indeed have a lovely mountain view. Service was lacking and the staff seemed to be more interested in talking to other guests or locals than us. The hotel does not have a restaurant, but there are some just down the road. The hotel had a bar that seemed to fill up most nights with locals and we felt a little out of place.

The best part of our trip to Grand Lake was the gorgeous drive to get there. If you want scenic, you are in the right place, but for me, I will spend my time and money in the future in Estes Park.

We stayed at the Gateway Inn during our first stay in Grand Lake. The atmosphere of the hotel was really cute--western mountain lodge style. The hotel bar was handy but filled up rather quickly on the weekend and we had to sit outside. We had the "mountain" room view and could see the mountains and the lake--I guess we were lucky! We would stay here again when we come back.

Room Tip: We asked to be located away from the outdoor patio area so there woudn't be as much noise

This is a very nice local hotel that can easily compete with the "big guys." The room was clean, a nice size, comfortable beds, and nicely appointed. The exercise room was adequate, and staff was very friendly and helpful. We will definitely stay here again.

The room was very large, decorated with unique furnishings (bed and furniture made out of logs) and was comfortable and clean. We supposedly had a room with a lake view, but it was pretty well obstructed. The location was good, close to town but not in the center of everything, so you do have to drive. Wi-Fi connection was good. The service at the front desk was not good...often times no one was there. They had an outdoor hot tub which we did not get to use but I wish we had--it looked nice! Overall it was a good value for the money.
