We visited my sister and her husband in their cabin at the lodge. They booked a handicap room and were very happy with their accommodations. The lodge maintains a rustic look, but the cabin had been updated and was very clean and comfortable. The new management has kept the main building as it has always been...a large open fire place, rich wood floors, wild animals hanging on the walls (stuffed by a taxidermist...my vegan sister was not impressed with this feature), and of course, the wonderful front porch. To sit on a swing overlooking the majestic Colorado mountains is delightful. We did have breakfast in the restaurant one morning, and while I wouldn't rave about the food, it was very good. We spoke with several young people from Taiwan, Macedonia, and Mongolia who work at the lodge for the summer...that added a lot to the experience. The manager of the Grand Lake Lodge, Jeff, is a very likeable person with a commitment to service. All in all, the GL Lodge is a memorable place to visit and we look forward to another Colorado vacation.
