“Pleasant tasting room and wines. Nice vineyard view. Tours only on Mondays.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2012

Decided to get a glass of Whitewater Hill White Merlot while writing this review, so the writing process "tastes better" . . . :-)

We stopped by for an hour on a Saturday afternoon. Surprised to find no other visitors - but that only lasted for about 5-10 minutes (perfect, just enough time to get an individualized introduction, but afterward have a more social environment while we sampled several wines while others were also doing so).

This is a small tasting room facility, with a small bar where one stands while sampling the products of this winery. One may see what's available on their Website. There's an intro video with a virtual tour on Youtube, done by the local newspaper:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w_NrqIDQUmk

The video notes that tours are available on Mondays. So we didn't get that opportunity.

Normally, I prefer relatively dry reds, roses and whites. But Rhine-level sweetness is also ok for me - and my wife prefers the latter. So, when we selected wines for a mixed case, we stayed slightly sweet on our selections.

BTW, there's no fee for the tasting.

“Small winery but good wines!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2012

This winery should go somewhere over the next years. Wines are well made. It is easily accessible as well, right off 32 Road south of Grand Junction but well BEFORE you get to Whitewater.

“A Little Gem”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2012

Our family was driving through Grand Junction on a road trip when we decided at the last minute to stop at this winery. We were so impressed! The contemporary tasting room sits atop a little hill and overlooks the beautiful vineyard - reminded us of one of our favorite wineries in Sonoma. We were treated with a very informative and thorough wine tasting experience and felt no pressure to purchase anything (although we did buy some of the White Merlot and ice wine). I prefer sweet white wines and found all of the sweet wines to be excellent. My husband enjoyed the red wines. We got to tap on the full barrels of wine and learned a bit about the grape harvesting process in Colorado.

Colorado wineries don't really compare to those in Napa or Sonoma, but the hospitality and good wines at this one really made us feel like we were in the heart of Wine Country. Even our two teens didn't complain because the setting was so nice. We will definitely return! The wine club (Cru Club) prices are very reasonable (compared to other wine clubs we've participated in) if you want to receive shipments of their wine on a quarterly basis.

I would love to see an expansion of this winery, offering little cold Italian bistro sandwiches and chips so folks can picnic while enjoying a glass of wine outside. It's a perfect setting for this.
