We stayed in Grand Junction for a few days while on vacation and decided to check out the Happy Hour specials at the Old Chicago Brewery.
At first glance the happy hour food specials listed on the menu seem to be a decent deal. What they don’t tell you; the portions are incredibly small, almost to the point of being a joke. Why even bother? The regular appetizer menu selections may be just as good, if not a better deal than the faux happy hour portions. I have never seen anything like it.
Instead of getting the “happy hour” portion of nachos, my wife got a half order of nachos, (which, according to the waitress was twice as big as the happy hour portion). On the positive side, my wife did like the nachos.
I got the fish and chips. The good part: Food was served hot and the fries were very good. The fish however was mushy and very greasy.
Overall, the regularly priced food seemed to be a bit on the high side.
Specials on Happy hour drinks were limited to certain tap beers, some house wine, and some mixed drinks. Once again, the prices were nothing special.
Bottom line: If you are looking for a place to go with decent happy hour prices, or good and reasonably priced food, this is NOT the place to go. (a lot of the locals must already be aware as the place was maybe 20% full at best).
