“Affordable skiing with challenging terrain”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2014

The nearest ski resort to Grand Junction should not be missed by locals or visitors. In the last few years Powderhorn has had some of the best snow conditions in Colorado. The grooming crews are experts at maintaining excellent conditions where needed. Great prices for the whole family.

“Challenging if not Advanced Skier”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2014

The jump from Green runs to Blue runs is sizeable. There are some great Blues, but you need to be a Type II or III skier to be comfortable on them. The Blacks are ridiculous!

“Could be better”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2013

For the high price of the ski lift ticket I was expecting a little more. The lodge isn't anything special, I've seen many nicer (same priced, same sized) resorts in Colorado with much nicer accommodations. There were only 3 lifts. Its a good place for your not so hard core skiers and snowboarders. The tubing was a great cheap way to help us make our vacation slightly better. It was fun.

“Best kept summer secret of western Colorado”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2013

Skiers heard of or skied at Powderhorn, a small resort, family friendly, a great place for kids to learn how to ski, just 35miles from Grand Junction. Summertime the resort is just.minutes away from the Colorado National Forest on Grand Mesa. Also, within driving distance are the Colorado National Monument, the Gunnison National Park and its Black Canyon, Canyonlands National Park and the Arches National Park. And even if you're not into driving those distances, views from the perch this resort has downslope from Grand Mesa is breathtaking least it be encumbered by the hanging clouds in the valley.

“Small local resort, great for families.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2013

If you are looking for a reasonably priced small mountain to ski/snowboard at, Powderhorn is your place. Close to Grand Junction, this small resort is a great family snow spot. The runs are beginner to intermediate at best and there are only a handful of lifts, but you can't beat it for a quick day trip for the family.
