“Must Visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2014

I cannot eat at a less-than clean establishment. Cleanliness reflects the attitude of the enterprise. Aztecas was very clean. The food was plentiful, hot and freshly prepared and flavorful. Too many times restaurants confuse spiciness for flavor. Not here. You can taste the freshness in the meal. The wait staff is very accommodating and patiently explain the menu to those who are not familiar with authentic Mexican cuisine. This is a must-visit restaurant whilst in Grand Junction.

“They know what they're doing!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2014

This review is for the Redlands location.

My Tacos de Asada were very fresh with wonderful bursts of tastiness that also somehow managed to be perfectly balanced. The side of rice was moist and soft, unlike most places where it's usually dried out. I opted for the Rancho beans instead of the refried, and those were cooked perfectly (not under or overdone). I also appreciated that none of the items had been drowned in cheese. My dish was delivered on one huge platter that looked slightly ridiculous in front of me (I'm on the small side). The husband's combination tostada was rather rich due to the marinades, but the dish had really interesting flavor; it, too, was generously apportioned.

The building looks like an old fast food restaurant (they still maintain a drive-thru window!), but Aztecas did a great job remodeling inside with tall, comfy booths and an intuitive layout. The former ordering counter has been converted into a bar, and the host station is right in front of the west door. Overall, it appeared clean and with good lighting. Plenty of paved parking as it's shared with the neighboring grocery market.

We had been greeted right away, and our server and his colleagues were extremely friendly and attentive. Our waters were topped off at least 3 times. The menu is huge, but I have a feeling you can't really go wrong with any of the items. We felt that it was reasonably priced.

“Feel-good Mexican Food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2014

To qualify - I have only been to the Redlands location in front of Albertson's on Broadway. The original location on Orchard Mesa had been so highly recommended, we thought we would try this one - which is simply five minutes down the road from me.

We have continued to return weekly since then. The food has been excellent! The atmosphere is very typical for Mexican food places around the valley. But what keeps coming us back is the service! Rarely have I been to a friendlier place! Each time we have been cheerfully greeted upon our arrival. The wait staff is enthusiastic and anxious to please....it matters not what time it is! They pride themselves on their service - checking on you often to make sure you are satisfied, refilling chips, and smiling....

We have never had an issue with the margaritas - on the rocks.... And Happy Hour is offered all day!

Well worth the visit!

Came here with some friends a while ago. It was a great place with good food, however, it's just your typical Mexican restaurant with nothing too special to make it different from any other Mexican restaurant in town.

“Awesome spinach enchiladas”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2014

Great Mexican food and evening at this place which is just across from the sign for the Colorado Monument. Service was very friendly, corn chip were not greasy, and spinach enchiladas were from fresh spinach and tasty. Our table of 8 had plenty of elbow room and were not rushed.
