“Great Holiday Inn, Close to Airport”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 22, 2013

I recently stayed here for a work trip. The staff were very accommodating. Our flight arrived midmorning and they had our rooms cleaned in order for us to be able to check in earlier then normal, which after travel is a huge deal. The room was modern and the bathroom was large. The hotel was very clean. The workout facility had 4 cardio machines and 2 tvs, there was also a nice indoor pool/spa. The one downside is no continental breakfast, instead there is a restaurant. There is a complimentary coffee station with a variety of creamers as well as teas and hot chocolate. I had not problems with noise in my room I was on the 4th floor facing the parking lot. I would recommend you request a room facing the parking lot instead of I-70. I plan to stay here again.

This is our 2nd year using this property for our High School team. The sales staff was always available...no voice mail every time I called. The email correspondence was never neglected. I appreciate the way they worked with us financially also. Becky was interested in accommodating us instead of brushing us off. She also worked together with kitchen manager to set up just what worked for us for breakfast and buffet dinner; nice not having to bring in outside food for a hungry, tired group of kids!
Thanks again!

Room Tip: The north side of the corridor is best for quiet.

We've recently stayed twice at the Holiday Inn Hotel and Suites before early morning flights out of Grand Junction. The facility is nice enough, with a restaurant and a bar on the bottom floor, and the rooms are modern and clean. We found the front desk staff to be very accommodating and helpful. However, noise is a huge issue in this hotel. The walls are paper thin, and the door let in the sound of people in the hallway talking or slamming their doors all night long. Both times we stayed, we had to be up at 4am to get to the airport for 6am flights, and neither time did we get any sleep. If you are unlucky enough to be placed in a room facing the freeway, you have even more noise to deal with. Unfortunately, we will most likely not be back, and stay at the Double Tree or the Courtyard Marriott down the road.

I travel to Grand Junction every month for business. Staying in just about every hotel by the airport, this one is by far the best. Every staff member was very friendly and made sure I was comfortable during my stay. The restaurant is very good especially when you don't want to drive anywhere for dinner. No complaints about the room VERY clean. The housekeepers know what they are doing there.

2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2013

I have spent 13 nights in December in 7 hotels... If I sound nit picky in my reviews it is because my husband and I have little patience for hotels that can't figure it out.

The Holiday Inn and Suites Grand Junction is one of those that didn't figure "it" out... and the empty parking lot and restaurant are testament to this.

First the good... the Pool has a total handicap accessible swing chair.
the jets in the hot-tub WORKED... (better than most Grand Jct. hotels)
the Pool area had lovely view of Bookcliffs
the Shampoo smelled good (lime coconut)

Now the not so good....

The bed felt like a pillow topped concrete block with lumps... a bit like camping without mosquitoes, I have seriously slept on the ground in tents and been more comfortable.

The pillows were clearly labeled "soft" and "firm"... besides the removable label there was no difference between all of them.

The carpet in the room hadn't been vacuumed for what looked like weeks, and I wrote "dust me" in dust on the bedside tables and television stand.

The hotel is very poorly designed and, while almost brand new, is showing bad aging already... the whole building seems very cheap and flimsy.. like a strong gust of wind might knock it over.

The flooring in the back hall and in elevator 3 is already badly worn, and shows just how ticky tacky the building materials are.

It is a boring suburban cookie cutter hotel, with thin walls, that allow freeway noise right in... of course being ten inches from the freeway doesn't help either.

It is in the middle of a suburban office "park" that looks like it would be more at home in orbit around Dallas, then in the beautiful Rocky Mountains... and while you can see it from the freeway just fine.. it might take awhile to actually find the driveway... unless you have lived in Grand Junction.

The staff was okay... the restaurant was totally empty all night, and every time I went past the front desk the cook was talking to the desk clerk... we went out of the hotel to a different restaurant because I didn't want to interrupt their visit.

Not worth the $52 Hotwire rate.. for a lumpy bed, dirty floor and gossiping staff too busy to look ready to work.

Room Tip: Odd number rooms are right next to the interstate... you will hear all traffic, on all floors... esp...

OK, we got a decent price from Hotwire for this hotel and it was just a one night stop on our way to Nevada which we do several times a year. The good: the clerk was pleasant, not nice-but ok. The room was spotless and big, especially considering the other hotels we have stayed in in Grand Junction. The bad: It was amazingly noisy. We got in at about 10pm after driving for many hours and we needed sleep. First, we had to listen to (presumably) children running and jumping off the beds onto the floor above us for about 2 hours. Next, we had an amorous couple in the room next door and we could hear EVERYTHING, at 10:40pm, 2:30am, and 3:40 am. (good for them, not so much for us) and finally, the big rigs going by practically under my window ALL NIGHT LONG. We were exhausted for the second leg of our trip and it was awful.

Room Tip: Make sure you get a room on the North side on the top floor.

This Holiday Inn has been around a long time and shows a bit of wear and tear. It was very busy with football teams and international tourist tours but service was friendly. Ok for a quick overnight and close to the airport, although a bit tricky to find as it sits behind other hotels on a back street.

Thank you for taking the time to post valuable feedback to us and future travelers. Our hotel was built in 2009 and our staff does a great job of upkeep on maintenance through the usual wear and tear. We always appreciate feedback for any areas in which we can improve.

We provide a free shuttle service to and from the airport and cater to business, sports, and leisure travel.

We thank you for staying with us and hope to see you back again soon.
