“There are trains???”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2013

On a recent road trip we stayed in various different types of motel to make things interesting. The Trail Riders was quirky & we liked it for that. We needed advice because of the recent storms in Colorado & the owner was very helpful. A nice restaurant was suggested a block or two away, wish I could remember its name too. All in all nice, & I never heard a train.

Glad you had a good stay! The floods in Colorado did detour a lot of people during their travels. I must be honest though, it also detoured the train. We haven't had a train go through Granby since I think it was September 13th. No matter where you go in Grand County you will hear the trains. Some people love the trains and some don't. We don't often get complaints about the trains because we are on the other side of Hiway 40 from them. I would like to thank you for writing such a nice review, and please come back and see us again!

We stayed here based on a Trip Advisor recommendation. Not so good! It was a pretty place, and the owners were very nice, but trains came through blowing their whistles at 9:15 PM, 2:50 AM, 5:10 AM & 6:05 AM. Not a restful night!

The room was small. There was no bathtub, only a Home Depot plastic shower stall. With only one chair, it was difficult for two people to watch TV as one had to sit on the bed.

I really missed the fluffy towels and little bottles of shampoo that the chain motels traditionally supply. We will look for other lodgings if we stay in Granby, CO again.

Room Tip: Bring ear plugs!

We are so sorry you were not happy at The Trail Riders. We really work hard to make every guest feel welcome and comfortable. The Trail Riders has been around for a long time and as you can see we have tried to take good care of it to meet the needs of our customers. We are a mom and pop motel, but we care about our guests. The showers are small but they are good quality Stanley shower stalls. It's a little motel, nothing fancy, but we care. Thank you for staying with us.

Seems well looked after. Plants outside are always a good sign. Perhaps the breakfast could have been a little more varied but it did the job. Interesting room - a little small, but nice and clean. Much better value than the poorer motels at Grand Lake. It's in a real town with a local feel and a nice bar a few blocks away. Would stay again as it has a friendly feel to it.

Thanks so much for staying with us at The Trail Riders. We really appreciate the good review and taking the time to write it! The Trail Riders is right in the middle of Granby so you can walk to everything. We are a small motel in a small town but we're happy when our guests are happy. Please come back and see us again!

After reading other recent reviews it is hard to add to the positive comments.
We reserved by phone a room for a day we needed to be in Granby. The outside appearance was dandy and the room itself was as neat and clean as we could have expected.
Judging from the vintage of the interior, we were pleased to see much of it is original but more importantly, some more modern amenities and condition and cleanliness were way above average.
And a nice, simple do-it-yourself breakfast a few steps away from the room.
Management just as nice in person as on the phone.
Overall - NO PROBLEMS.

We are so glad you weren't disappointed at The Trail Riders. Thank you so much for staying with us and for writing such a kind review. We have tried to save some of the original items in the motel, but as time goes by we find ourselves having to replace out of necessity. It is still a mom and pop place and we are happy you were one of our guests. Please come back and stay again sometime!

Oh my gosh, what a great place! LOVE the pink neon! LOVE the petunias everywhere!

Was suprised to see how big the room was, plenty of space to spread out all our stuff. Super comfy bed, great water pressure in shower, plenty of nice thick towels.

And reliable highspeed WIFI, which, as any road tripper knows, is pretty much a miracle, even when they assure you theirs works fine.

Almost didn't stop, because, frankly, we either like anonymous chain motels or sorta shabby Mom & Pop motels, and this one is neat as a pin. So glad we did!

Mexican restaurant just down the street made a great place for a short walk to dinner, and a fine meal. Try teh fried ice cream, it has toasted coconut in the coating. Then go back to Trail Riders and enjoy the evening on the porch, and finish up with the big flascreen TV in bed :)

FREE BREAKFAST & COFFEE starts really early, think it was 6:30, which is as unusual as good wifi. Great selection of good (not Brand X, but Pepperidge Farm) bagels, muffins, fresh fruit, and enough toasters so you don't have to wait in line. Loved listening to your retro radio while waiting for toaster to pop :)

Thanks for a fine evening and a great breakfast to get us on our way. And thanks to that motel at the other end of town, who didn't have wifi, for suggesting you guys. Looking fwd to next stay!

Room Tip: Any room is a good room! Very well soundproofed, never heard a sound through either adjoining wall.

This is a classic roadside motel,we are on a road trip and try to find Non- chain places to stay. Unfortunately so many are rundown and dirty. Not here , rooms are cute, clean and comfortable, staff friendly and nice little breakfast provided too. Would stay again if passing that way again.

Thank you so much! We have owned the Trail Riders for 21 years and work hard to keep it clean, comfortable, and simple! We appreciate it when our guests take the time to let others know what they have found. There is nothing better than word of mouth! Again thank you so much. Please come back and see us!

This is a terrific motel. We had come up from Boulder through RMNP past Grand Lake to Granby and pulled in to the Trail Riders Motel where we had reservations. As soon as we saw Trail Riders we knew we were going to like it. It is exactly what a motel should be like. From the neon to the lay out, to the location, to the rooms, to the hostess Tracy! it was all what we had hoped for.The room we stayed in had two bedrooms, There was plenty of room and the rooms were immaculate. We loved the decor and the way the rooms were set up.It is within an easy walk to restaurants, shopping, a coffee shop etc.The atmosphere was genuinely friendly. Thank you Tracy! We will certainly be coming back again and telling our friends who pass through Granby to stay here :)

Thank you so much! We couldn't have asked for a better review! We really appreciate it when a guest takes time out and does this for us. I am so glad you had a good visit. You are right Tracy is very friendly and really tries hard to make our guests feel welcome. Pretty soon ( right around the corner) fall will be upon us. Please come back for the nicest time of year and see us. Thanks again!
