Wife and I ate at this location while passing through Denver. We have eaten at several different Macaroni Grill’s in the past and always enjoyed both the meal and the service. We don't eat at Macaroni Grill often enough to know for sure, but I fet that the menu had changed pretty significant;y.
The server was both quick and friendly, although his “up-sale” technique could use a little polishing. We had the calamari appetizer and found it different than in the past. The portion seemed smaller to me and the pieces much smaller. I really didn’t like the addition of large pieces of parsley and chopped “peppadoos”. The vinegary taste of the pepperoncini really took away from the calamari. I won’t order it again. The soup of the evening was a creamy mushroom and it was the best I have ever had. I had the Pasta di Mare and the wife the usual Pasta alla Pomodoro. I always hold my breath with restaurant pasta until I have tasted it and find it cooked to my liking. The spaghetti alla chitarra was so perfectly cooked that it reminded me of my Grandma’s when she still had the energy to drag out the chitarra and make hand-mades. The texture is firm and toothsome, so if you like mushy pasta don’t order this dish. My wife appeared to enjoy her pasta dish. I felt the portion size was adequate and I can be a big eater.
Between the bread, wine and entrée’s there was no room for dessert, although I was tempted and our server offered to box up a dessert for us to enjoy later. Again the up-sale.
Great all around meal.
