“Great Cozy Getaway!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2014

Traveling to Denver for a conference, we decided to stay in Golden a few days beforehand. The Silk Pincushion had vacancy and good reviews here on Trip Advisor and it did not disappoint. We stayed in the carriage house which is separate from the main house above a garage sewing studio which was very private and quiet. The efficiency apartment was very clean, well decorated and furnished. Since it is an "attic" space the ceilings were a little low in spots, and the bathroom was a little small but that was no big deal. The room was equipped with a Keurig, microwave, and fridge. The queen bed was fair, but sleepable. Darlene and Dennis were great hosts. Breakfast was nothing elaborate or complicated, but was very good (egg dishes, meats, and plenty of fruit). There was also always good conversation with other guests too. We picked up some activity ideas from both our hosts and fellow guests. Golden was a great quaint "little" town. The main attractions were within walking distance from the B&B and the more popular eating places were very good. We were able to find plenty to do in Golden (and a little further away) to occupy our 4 days there. We were able to take a look at one of the other three rooms in the main house. It looked very nice. We would definitely come back to Golden and would definitely stay at The Silk Pincushion again.

My wife and I spent 4 nights in the carriage house room, and were very pleased. Judy and Dennis make the perfect hosts.

The room was spacious, quiet and the bed comfortable. On the negative side - the air conditioner only marginally worked well enough to keep the bed side of the large room cool during the hot summer day. The nights were no problem. And no closet to hang and store clothes.

The breakfasts were absolutely delicious and creative. Always accompanied by fresh fruit and berries. Our only complaint is that if you are not there to eat at 8:00AM, you miss out. It is understandable that Judy needs to budget her time, but after all, her customers are on vacation.

Enough complaining, bottom line, we loved the place and would go back in a heart beat.

I stayed for a week in the carriage house while working in nearby Wheat Ridge. Golden is the perfect western gold rush town and the Silk pincushion provides the perfect way to experience it. Judy and Dennis were amazingly welcoming and went out of their way to look after me and I loved hearing their stories and chatting with the other guests. The breakfast was great and something different every day. As a British 20 something travelling alone I was really glad of the chance to experience something of American hospitality and culture.

Room Tip: Book the coach house if your staying for any length of time as it gives you a nice kitchen and you c...

The quilts are beautiful. The Victorian furniture is perfect in the victorian house. The porcelain dolls are big. The house is nicely decorated for Christmas. The pretty sleigh bed was comfortable. The breakfast was yummy. The inkeepers are nice. Thank you Rita Bennett and Steve Nordstrom from Westminster Colorado

My husband and I rented the carriage house during a trip to Golden for surgery. We needed a quiet place for recovery and this was perfect. Since it isn't attached to the house we could listen to the radio or talk without worry of disturbing other guests. It was like having our own apartment. There is a small kitchen, which was great. The house is within walking distance of most everything, a grocery with a pharmacy and many restaurants and shops. The best part of the experience was Judy's amazing breakfasts. She accomodated our food allergies and made something different every day. Both Judy and Dennis are delightful company. When we left we felt like family. Highly recommend this B&B.

Room Tip: We have only stayed in the carriage house and would choose it again

I stayed by myself in the Green Room for 3 nights. The location is great and Judy and Dennis are incredibly warm and welcoming. The highlight for my stay at the Silk Pincushion was breakfast every morning with Judy, Dennis and the other B & B guests. Judy is a fantastic cook making something new most mornings.....gingerbread pancakes, sausage & cheddar mini biscuits, fresh berries, scrambled eggs with homemade potatoes with ham. Great food and great conversation around the table every morning. I would happily stay here again. Beats a hotel any day.

Room Tip: The Green room does not face the main street, so it seemed to be a bit quieter if noise from passing...
