As we were walking through the hallway on the second day of our stay, I heard my 10-year-old niece remark, "this is kind of a sad place." That really sums it up. This hotel is dark, dirty and depressing. A remodeling project is in progress, and the evidence is all over the hotel. Old furniture and other remodeling debris clutter the hallways and half of the "dining" area. The pool area looks disgusting and is in severe need of maintenance. The rooms were standard, but our bathtub was really old and stained. The dated dark brick walls added to the depressing feeling. I really just wanted to get out of the hotel as quickly as possible.

The only redeeming quality of this hotel is the food served for breakfast, which is included. They serve quite a variety of hot and cold options. Unfortunately, you have to eat this food in the dark downstairs dining room and put up with poor service. It kind of feels like you are eating in a basement dungeon. The women working the breakfast area were quite rude. Unlike a normal buffet, the plates are not readily available. We had to wait for one of the women to notice us (they were busy having a conversation and it seemed that they were purposely not looking at us) so that we could request a plate. Then, they ask to see our coupon to "prove" that we were staying there and deserved a plate. Seriously, they treated us like we were criminals trying to steal these plates instead of guests in their hotel.

I also had problems when making the reservation (I should have taken that as an indicator of what was to come). I requested 2 adjoining rooms, but was told that they could not promise this but would "put a note on my reservation." We really wanted the adjoining rooms, but of course did not get them in the end. In the future, I will not book a reservation at a hotel that can't make this simple promise. I really don't see why it should be that difficult to just assign me 2 specific rooms.

In summary, I do not recommend staying at this hotel. The room rates are a joke considering the multiple service and aesthetic problems. The rates are comparable to several other hotels in the area that are not run-down disasters, so you might as well find a different place in which you can enjoy your stay in beautiful Glenwood. I come back to Glenwood every summer, but I will not be coming back to this hotel!

I would rate this place "terrible" if not for the pretty good continental breakfast that inculded hot and cold items. However, the staff was very rude (especially the breakfast staff). You had too stand there and basically beg for a plate like Oliver Twist at the beginning of the line as they don't have them sitting out. There was was one particular lady, I like to call the "Plate Nazi" who who would bregrudgingly hand you a plate after she acted confused, for a minute, about what you needed.

The rooms are okay. Pillows are really uncomfortable. Mine felt like a pillowcase filled with straw. But, the hotel is very dated. Dark brick all over the interior of the hotel. And, this is not the cool, trendy "exposed" brick. This is the 70s, ugly, scene of a seedy movie, color brick. There is literally "remodeling material" sitting all over the interior of the hotel along the hallways, etc. There are all these old pieces of furniture just pushed off to the sides, linig the walls, as if they don't know what to do with them (are they ever going to possibly use them? I hope not).

Elevators, ice machines were broken down. The pool and hot tub looked nasty. They should either close down hotel completely until the supposed "remodel" is completed or offer significantly cheaper rooms, with a warning to guests about "improvements coming" before their stay.

We were traveling back east and just passing through for the night so booked this sight unseen but were pleasantly surprised by the look of the exterior and lobby. I know, not the most important part of a hotel. The sign on the room door said non-smoking but the scent of the room was more like air freshener was used to cover up the smoke smell. It appeared the hotel was under renovation and had only one working elevator. Our room told my why they were renovating. My husband described the bathroom as 'one step above camping.' The bathroom was super small and in disrepair. Very thin blankets. My daughter was disappointed that the 24 hr fitness facility closed about 9:30 pm. Upsides - ok room rate, super friendly staff and free wi fi.

Just terrible. The rooms have been redone and are decent, but the hotel itself is just gross. The restaurant is just dirty and nasty. Elevator didn't work. 3 of the 4 ice machines didn't work. Leaky roof and moldy ceiling tiles. Cracked jacuzzi fiberglass, standing water, cloudy/green pool. Not safe. Just a horrible experience and like others, the staff isn't empowered to do anything to help remedy the situation. This is definitely not a true Ramada. Ramada should look at this property and pull their franchise license.

this is a long review so have a seat: We read the reviews and since we were getting a suite we figured we would be safe with that....Booked a King bed suite 2 weeks in advance for 4th July weekend in Glenwood Springs. The 4 of us including the Lil one and 2 dogs were excited. Called a few days before arrival to inquire about 2 queen beds instead of the King that we reserved. Was told yes they had a 2 queen bed suite available and i changed the reservation for that.
Called day before leaving and reconfirmed everything.
Since we are on a budget and to get there a day early, keep things cheap, we reserved a standard motel room elseware in town for the night of our arrival . So with this we would make the short drive/ move the next morning over to the Ramada and begin to enjoy the weekend ...well so we thought.
Everything went smoothly the Lil one was enjoying the first nite of her vacation excited to go the Glenwood Adventure Park , Hot Springs Pool and then Aspen for the fireworks. GS was not having fireworks due to its fear of starting a fire. A fear that many other towns nearby dismissed and rightfully so. It has been a normal spring summer with big runoff from snow melt this year.
The next day ready to check into our Suite, Me and the munchkin went to the front desk while Mom & co. and the dogs organized the luggage etc
Upon checking in we were told "Yes your 2 queen standard room is ready "!
HOLD ON A SECOND. What room is this ?
We have you booked in a standard queen for the weekend .
No it is a 2 queen suite i said .Well it turns out the girl who made the reservation and then reconfirmed with me days later BOTCHED THE WHOLE THING.
I sternly informed them of every phone call i made, what was said on their part and adamantly requested to be given our original suite.
"Unfortunately we are all booked this weekend for suites." they said
The look on the little one's face was heartbreaking to say the least.
I demanded that they rectify the situ and was told there was nothing they could except put us in the std room and possibly a suite for Sat nite ( our last nite staying in Glenwood) With every hotel already booked for the weekend we had not much choice. i stated that there should be some type of compensation for the screw up as it was their fault and not ours and we have groceries in the car for the whole weekend to save on eating out hence getting the suite.
They offered to reduce the rate by 50% and I demanded that they check to see if a suite was available for Sat nite Which it was surprisingly, and had them book us into that at the 50% off rate as well.
Now this reduction did nothing to make our trip better and the fact that we were jammed into a std room for a nite with yet another move the next day put a huge wrench in all our plans for the next days activities.Having to be back at the hotel at a certain time to do the move etc etc.

The staff during all of this was apologetic yet seemed to not be able to do much more. The girl that took the original reservation was there and visibly embarrassed yet not saying anything about it.
So off we go to our std. room. But one step into the Non Smoking room greeted us with cig smoke All right I marched back to the front desk and gave us another room which had been renovated. Adequate for the night we made due crammed into it and promptly went over to Aspen for the rest of the day and fireworks where we forgot about it all and had a good time . the next day we anticipated our moving into the suite finally yet our whole day schedule had to adjusted and much time was wasted due tot his because we could not get into the Suite till the afternoon. Once in we breathed a sigh of relief and then i began to notice several things about the renovations done at this hotel. Kitchen cabinet bottoms water damaged, dirty pots and pans and utensils,, toilet paper holder falling out of the wall, huge crack in ceiling, Was told there was a fireplace but the location had been sheetrocked over. Towel holder on bthrm door was falling out with many holes drilled to try to mount it ...I mean not even a average carpenter would let this stuff slide.
The bed was comfortable enough we had a roll away along with the pullout couch to cover everybody's sleeping needs. AC worked good enough and it was hot this weekend BUT. YES ONE ELEVATOR IS WORKING the other we were told has been out of service for quite some time (months) due to a water leak problem. You will read other reviews here from months ago stating the same.
Usually i give reviews a grain of salt but most of them here on TripAdvisor were spot on with the problems of this Ramada Hotel. Now again the front desk staff was cordial BUT the only staff members wearing any type of official Ramada attire or even a name tag were the manager and front desk supervisor. The other front desk staff and office employees wore regular street clothing.Something I find very unprofessional
At one point one of us had gone down to the breakfast room which is free with your room . They were in the process of cleaning up as breakfast finishes at 10 am. She asked for a small plate for some fruit we had brought and were rudely told by hostess Logan that 'Breakfast was over' My friend not one to be spoken to rudely laid into her per her attitude and then told the manager who again apologized and would talk to this staff member.
It seemed that at every turn there was something seriously wrong with the hotel, staff and operations. It was clear that a few of the front desk staff were not really trained well and could not finish any request or transaction without the supervisor or manager attending to it.
Things to beware of :
Pool really is the size of a postage stamp, its location is in the bottom floor where the dark and dingy bar is-which looks like it hadn't been open in ages.. On the phone i was told that there were big glass doors that open to the outside to let in the sunlight well they haven't been cleaned in awhile and they opened to a tiny below ground dirty patio that looked more like an employee break area than anything else. The Hot tub is the size of a sink and both pool and it had paint peeling underwater and the water itself was green and not clean We did not partake of them at all lest we get some kinda disease.!!!
ONE Elevator and it is very slow, located at the far end of the hall away from the lobby.
Parking gets very full on the weekends get a good spot or your parking far away in back lot.
Internet : non existent and the lobby PC was always rebooting for some reason.
Staff well other than checking in your on your own for extra towels, toiletries etc We always grab xtra from the maid once we get to a room anyways so we have stock for our stay.
They do allow pets for a xtra fee per pet per nite.
In the end and if you've read my post this far then you will know to go elsewhere, This Ramada is to be avoided. Yes it is not really a Ramada but an associated hotel as one reviewer pointed out. Renovations are ongoing with no end in sight.
Our advice if you don't have pets go across the street to the Best Western Antlers or Starlight which is an immaculately kept motel with great staff , With Pets ? The Red Mtn Inn down hwy 6 is also a great place with small cabins, rooms nice pool outdoors , and great staff They will be our choice next time!
By the way the Motel we stayed in our first night ? CARAVAN INN in town. Great staff nice pool and hot tub ( outside) , worthy Ice machines, nearby Safeway and a diner. Prices are great rooms are clean and comfortable and they accept pets as well.
As for the Ramada ? well we won't be staying here again especially when the chance of them screwing up your reservation is high !

Room Tip: 4th floor rooms and suites are "renovated" so take your chances there before other floors
