Denver loves breakfast, and there are more breakfast-centric restaurants here than most places I've been. Sam's No. 3 in Glendale, a couple of blocks from Cherry Creek, is a fun place with a great menu and great food. While they do serve lunch and dinner, breakfast was on my agenda and they did not disappoint. The menu is huge, and you can get everything from a bowl of oatmeal to a variety of breakfast burritos to an omelet made with 6 eggs, bacon, sausage, ham, gyro, onion, bell pepper, tomato, mushroom, cheddar, Swiss, Jack, American and Kickin' Pork Green Chili called "Momma's Big Fat Omelet." My choice was two poached eggs, bacon (4 strips!), home fries and toast. You can always judge a restaurant by how well it poaches eggs. The poached eggs I had were perfectly cooked. They were exactly as runny as they should be and not molded in a machine. The bacon was thick cut and apple wood smoked. The home fries were hand cut, not shredded and the toast came out buttered, which is the best way to get toast, so the butter melts before the toast gets cold. The waiter was excellent and friendly, but most waiters I have had in this town are more friendly than anywhere else I've been.
Sam's No. 3 has two locations in addition to the one I visited in Glendale. They have one in Downtown Denver and one in Aurora, and they are all No. 3. I will be back at Sam's No. 3 and not just for breakfast. Their lunch and dinner menus look delicious.
