If you want to go skiing without the crowds and snooty people this is the place for you. STAFF IS SO FRIENDLY and helpful, prices are great and there are trails for everyone. It's laid back away from the crowds and close to Denver airport. Cozy bar with yummy chili. You can rent ski jackets.pant, hats, everything!!!! Can't wait to come back.

Room Tip: This is not a hotel it's a ski resort. If you need a hotel the closest towns are georgetown ( s...

Friendly place, great value, great place to spend the day!!! One of my favorite places to snowboard in the Rockies! Laid back, low key just a great time! If you are hungry or need some refreshments the bar area in the lounge is great! It's a charming place with awesome runs! Ample parking and people seem to disperse well when it's busy. Lots of room to enjoy the mountain!!

Just spent the most enjoyable day ever on a ski-field. The staff at Loveland were wonderful especially the Rental shop Manager Scott. Great runs for learner to intermediate with less than 1 minute waits on all lifts. Denver's best kept secret. Less than 1 hour on the Interstate 70 west and then 1/2 mile road to carpark 1 minute walk to rental shops and a further 30 seconds to the first lift. The team at Loveland are excellent and if you are in Denver in season this is a must attend field. No on field lodging does not matter as less than an hour from Denver back in town is a breeze and a nice wind town.

We have stopped at Loveland the past few years as the 'first day' of our Ski Trip into the mountains. Great 'warm up' hill. Great prices, family friendly, varied terrain. Old School vibe is a definite with very reasonable food and drink prices. (they get you at the pro shop). I love stopping at Loveland, this trip we went RIGHT TO THE TOP of l lift 2 and hit some bowls with 5 inches of fresh powder... Great way to kill your legs early. Only negative was a lot of 'non qualifiers' on the upper bowls that would wipe out or struggle... hard to ride a bowl with people below you stopping or falling down. Witnessed on collission and the two parties dropped F Bombs at each other in the lift line... Not fun for anyone... But again, it is a great place to spend a day.. not sure of how many days in row, some people may want to ride/ski the LUV....

I have skied 120+ days in Colorado in the past three years; about three at Loveland. Here are the good / bad points:

Good
1 - Its closer to Denver than just about any option. It's a solid 30 minutes (no traffic) to 60 minutes (weekend traffic) faster, each way.
2 - Its lower cost than most of its competitors.
3 - It has terrain that is appropriate for newer skiers and intermediates
4 - free, close parking

Bad
1 - Limited advanced intermediate or expert terrain. Vail, Copper, Keystone would be a lot better choices
2 - High altitude relative to other resorts. People sensitive to altitude sickness might have more issues here than at other areas
3 - Like some parts of Breckenridge, seems to me to be windier and colder than many other resorts

Other points
Lessons are good here, especially for newer skiers. Way cheaper than the big names (Vail, Breck, etc) but more expensive than El Dora or Cooper (not to be confused with Copper)

Room Tip: There are no rooms at Loveland ski resort; you will have to travel east to Georgetown or west to Dil...

First time ever skiing in Colorado, and I couldn't be happier that I picked Loveland. Everyone I came into contact with were very friendly, and helpful. Very laid back atmosphere. Went on a Wednesday in mid-February, and the slopes were pretty empty, which was awesome! Next opportunity I get to go back to Denver area, will definitely go back to Loveland.

Had a week of skiing the week before Christmas at Loveland. The ski school was pretty quiet and our kids had personal lessons for most days! Even when it got busy nearing Christmas, the main lifts were not too busy, school was packed though, but I think its still not as crowded as others. Pricing was great compared to nearby more famous ski areas especially for a family of 5. And after our 3 day lessons, we all had season passes to continue skiing. Plenty of places to stay nearby too, and easy to access by car on I-70.
