“Not worth the $35 price tag”

Backcountry Brewery & Pizza, Main St., Frisco, Feb. 2008 -- Not worth the $35 price tag but portions were very ample (menu says personal pizza but was probably 12 inch and could feed 2 not totally starving people) Calzone also huge. Order on both dishes was wrong on arrival and second try on calzone was very undercooked. They did credit us partly for one order being wrong. Pizza was really good but center was very, very soggy. Beers were watered down. Wouldn't go back.

New Years eve day for lunch. We waited to be seated ( 8 ) for 30 minutes. Many tables were empty. They were understaffed. We waited 50 minutes for our food. The waiter forgot to enter my wifes meal entirely. We ordered pizza and burgers. 3 of 5 pizzas were charred across the bottom. The waiter was understanding. He suggested we speak to the General Manager. OK. A few minutes go by and no GM. One of our group goes with the waiter to find him, he finally gets to our table and is rude as I have ever seen. He grabs the receipt form our table and agrees to remove the cost of 3 pies. 10 minutes later we get the new ticket with a 15 % discount. We paid and were astonished by this managers behavior. His name is Shane and he is a pathetic GM.

“Avoid this place. The service and the food are awful”

Although the restaurant was not full, or even half full, we waited more than an hour after ordering our food. It was served cold and most of it was tasteless. Avoid the buffalo brat at all costs. It is dry, more like buffalo jerky. Service was awful awful awful. Waiter seem to think he was too cool to really worry about the needs of those he was serving. Worse than the bad food and the awful service, was the mess that was made of the bill. When the bill was presented, it was accurate. When the credit card receipt was presented, it was $28 higher than the bill. Explanations of the discrepancy were incoherent and sketchy. Although the problem was eventually resolved, it took more time than it should have and left us feeling like something shady had been attempted.

We have eaten several times at Backcountry, and always upstairs. I understand downstairs is more pizza, etc. Our food has always been above average and generous in portion size. There can be a wait during peak times, but once seated the service is great and we have never been disappointed in the meal. They also offer a well stocked & fresh soup/salad/baked potato bar that can be your meal or you can add it to any entree. Some of the dishes we have tried are no longer on the menu, others have been specials. Recently members of our party ordered Prime Rib, Chicken Fried Steak and I had the Fish Tacos. Everyone was very pleased with the meal and I am trying to find a good excuse to go back for the Fish Tacos. They were excellent and leaving you wishing you could hold more.
